Sanaa - Thoughts?

We were there is November...I enjoyed it and would definitely return - if I was staying at AKL/V and could visit each restaurant. My family and I prefer Boma...lots more to choose from on the buffet, so everyone is happy. The kids didn't like Sanaa (though my son only likes true "kid food" and my daughter wasn't feeling well most of the trip). My husband thought it was ok...he was actually expecting it to be a bit more "exotic". They have a fabulous drink menu :thumbsup2

We had a good lunch experience at Sanaa. We would go back. It was quiet and our waiter, Giovanni, explained the menu to us. My daughter, 12 at that time, was given a childrens menu to choose from. She was not interested in the items on the regular menu. She did however, receive a regular dessert option. I forgot to mention, we also had a window view.

I don't have a very adventurous palette but we ate here last October and everyone loved it. The waiter told us the food used to be spicier but they toned it down due to customer feedback. He also said he would tell the chef to give my meal a little more kick. I still didn't find it too spicy but then again, I put hot sauce on just about everything.

Thanks so much guys for the reviews! I think its a great choice for me and my family, even my husband and one daughter who aren't very daring when it comes to food can probably find something there. I can't wait to go, and Im going to ask for a window view of course! I can't wait to see the resort itself - so excited! Thanks again!!!!!

We loved it ! We also have had dinner at Jiko and Loved that also, cant wait to get back to both in Aug.:thumbsup2
As a previous poster stated, if salt, and pepper are your idea of spices then
you may not like it. But we loved all the flavors at both places.

Sanaa is my favorite 1TS meal at WDW. I think a lot of it comes down to still being relatively new and having the freedom to try things out where other, more established restaurants, have a bit of inertia and don't take any risks. It's a nice setting, too. Even if you don't have a table with a view of the Savannah, you can take a walk outside to see the animals before or after dinner.

I loved Sanaa, We went on our Honeymoon it was amazing. Our waiter gave us a free glass of champaign, and when I didn't want the potatoes offered with my steak, they substituted rice for me no questions asked. We liked it so much, going again in May.

I absolutely LOVE Sanaa. It is so good, I have been there 5 times since it opened...and adding #6 in May. Why? Because everyone I am with REALLY wants to go...again & again & again. The bread service is TDF. I love all of the slow cooked in gravy items- including the shrimp in green curry that comes with basmati rice- which is white, but is nutty and flavorful unlike plain white Uncle Ben's. Do you need to be a little adventurous with your palate to eat here? Absolutely. But your DH might like the lamb- it's a little less dressed up. If he likes lamb. Or the short ribs- that might be ok for him, too. There's a NY Strip steak- you could ask them to make it plain. Talk to the server, they will help you out.

I really hope you like it. Food is very subjective. One girl's caviar is another girl's smelly fish eggs! Have fun, you will love AKL- it's a gorgeous resort! :goodvibes

We LOVE Sanaa. We went last September and plan to go again this September. The food was amazing. Delicious! However, we lovee thai/indian/african food - as others have said if mac and cheese and baked chicken is more your style, it's probably not the best place for you. Their dessert is awesome too. My three year old loved it and we loved being able to see the animals from our window :)

The green curry at Sanaa is one of the best things I have ever eaten and I eat this kind of food and other ethnic food all the time. Delicious. I've been thinking about it and wanting to go back for 2 years.

I adore Sanaa and it's becoming one of those must go to every trip places for me. The food is excellent and I love the setting!

Sanaa was the 2nd table service meal we ate at last year. I LOVED it. We only had 5 TS ADRs and I'd say it was high on my list. I love Indian and Thai food and it has an interesting mix of cuisine.

We did the bread and sauce sampler. Delicious. My boyfriend had some meat thing that I don't really remember, but as a vegetarian I can tell you that they had a lot to offer and it was amazing. Service was terrific, atmosphere was wonderful. I'll say this for Disney - the tables are HUGE and the space between them is enormous. I feel like a princess at TS meals! And it was so nice to be at a place with a more original feel to the menu.
