Sanaa menu change

Don't like the new Sanaa menu change - not sure how recent it is, but it has changed since this time last year.

When ordering the Potjie, you can pick one vegetable option (harvest) and one meat (journey). We had all planned what we wanted ahead of time so we up charged to get two meats each. Not sure this meal is worth $37 with the upcharge. Didn't particularly like the vegetable options.

May have to reconsider Sanaa for our next visit or just go for the bread service and a dessert.

Oh, Disney! I just want my favorites to stay exactly the same. Is that too much to ask?!

The regular price is $26, correct? So that 2nd meat adds $11? I am going there sunday. guess I wont be getting two meats. geez...

That's not good, I was looking forward to trying this and at $37 it's almost into signature entree pricing.

I noticed this change too when I was looking at the menu online. Lots of quiet little menu changes happening right now, unless this is one that happened awhile ago and I just missed it?

I guess that makes it easier for me to decide on the paneer tikka as one of my options!

We were just there. Yes, there is an $11 up charge if you want two meats and don't pick the one meat and one vegetable as it is listed on the menu.
The only reason I MIGHT ever return there is for the bread service.

I got the paneer tikka as my veggie option. It was delicious and it was one that was on my short list for my second after the butter chicken. it was very substantial.

I agree $11 upcharge is pretty steep, it's nearly half again the cost of the overall dish.

We're huge carnivores, but for what its worth we actually enjoy the veggie options at Sanaa more than the meat. Their lentils and chickpeas are amazing!

That's crazy for a small bowl of meat. I just made my ADR's this AM and included Sanaa. I might have to take a look at the menu again and rethink that one.

We went in October and were told we couldnt pay extra to have two meats. I was quite annoyed as I always have the same everytime I go. I did end up having a veggie option and loved it

What veggie option did you get?

Wow! That is not a good change. It was already expensive at $26. I love Sanaa, but this is too expensive for me as I no longer care for any of their vegetable options. I will have to rethink my plan of eating there after the half marathon next month. So sad :(

On a side note, I had the lentil dahl the last time and it was horrible...the lentils were crunchy. If anyone has had this recently, was the crunchiness just bad luck of getting an undercooked batch?

Additional side note: I have gotten this dish every trip since they opened. I remember it being something like $19 several years ago and it was cheaper if you got 2 veggie options. I understand the concept of demand guiding price, but there comes a point when you pass into the realm of ridiculous. This has crossed that line to me.

Well, I'm not surprised . For the past year my daughter and I have been splitting this with double butter chicken and an extra order of rice along with the full bread service. The portions that way were manageable, no-one left stuffed. Now, they are forcing us to change our way of eating.

I'm surprised that it took until almost the end of 2016 for Disney to really screw with the Sanaa menu. I've felt for a couple years that $26 was a bit much for what you were getting, but to take away the 2nd meat and have the audacity to charge 42% more to add it back to the dish is completely ridiculous.

We're staying at AKL and Sanaa has always been our #1 restaurant, but now we're really going to have to re-think how often we go. I may order off the menu once more to try the paneer tikka (as I've always heard good things about it) but I think for the most part we'll split the bread service and have some drinks in the lounge. I'm honestly surprised Disney hasn't raised that to $30 yet.

no they aren't. they're just forcing you to spend $11 more to do that!

I agree that the $11 to upgrade is ridiculous but i don't think that $26 is all that much given that you are getting two complex and long cooked dishes. If I were to order 2 dishes (a meat and a veg) and rice to split at an indian restaurant it would be about $40-45 the last time I ordered like that (I prefer buffets because they are better deals)... so $52 for the disney jack up isn't that much (2x dinners as a typical entree in an indian place is about 2x what you get in half of your meal at Sanaa). Also if two people order you can have 4 different things as well.

Paneer is a house-made ingredient and then to have to sear it off and simmer in a beautiful curry... it's not like you're getting a side of stir fried frozen veggies for you "vegetable" side... paneer is an entree in its own right. I honestly didn't mind the change at all but I guess if you are used to getting a double butter chicken and splitting it it is a decent value at $13 a person, less so at $18.50 a person (not that i think anything at all is wrong with splitting, but if lots of people are doing it Disney is losing revenue and is going to try to correct that).

:lmao: True, true. It may just force us to spend less and just get the bread service and maybe another appetizer instead!

I totally get it, lol. Like I said I am NOT judging splitting. But I would not be surprised if Disney were trying to make it harder to do that. like around here there are some great 3 course dinner deals in the off season (I live in a seasonal tourist area) but if you split there is a hefty plate sharing charge.
