we recently told the kids about our trip. My DS has requested an extra half day at AK since he loves the park. We always do a half day from rd to 12-1.

Since he requested this I've thought it's a great chance for us to go over to AKL and check it out and have a meal at Sanaa.

I've decided to do DHS at RD then hop over to AK for the afternoon.

Question is should I do Sanaa at 1215 then go to AK and hope to be there by 2 ? or dinner at 530 after the park closes at 5?

Also what are my chances for a window seat?

I'd do lunch on a non-park day, personally.

Although, if he's that interested in Animal Kingdom, take a look at the Dining with an Animal Specialist package. It's lunch at Sanaa.

I've been several times. I love it all. I have never got a window seat, and it doesn't matter much. I don't think you can go wrong with either choice. I prefer lunch though. I really enjoy the bread service. Just being in Kidani is beautiful. Now that I think about it, I would vote for 5:30 so you can take time enjoy the building.

What time will sunset be on the day you plan to be there? If you're going there so that you can watch the animals while you eat, then you want to be there while it is still light outside.

We will be there in August/September so sunset is around 7:50ish.

I think we're going to go with dinner so we can take our time and look around.

My SO isn't really into Indian food but I think he'd like the steak they list for dinner.

We had 5 pm dinner and had a really good experience. The restaurant was pretty empty until toward the end of our meal, and we were seated by the window without having to ask. DD and I went out onto the deck for a couple minutes before dinner, and our entire party went out after dinner. They have some rocking chairs out there, and you can relax and watch the animals (there were also a couple CMs available to answer questions).

Def get the bread service!

I would do lunch. Mostly because you can still get the short ribs at lunch and you cannot at dinner (unless the menu is wrong, in which case someone please correct me and make my day :)) . The short ribs/butter chicken combo is my favorite! It is out of the way for lunch, though, but very good. We have had wonderful meals at both times.

We did a 5:00 dinner and had a window seat and it was great! None of my family particularly likes Indian food, but we all loved Sanaa. We especially enjoyed the bread service, butter chicken, and shortribs. And just to clarify, Sanaa is at AKV (Kidani Village), not at AKL (Jambo House). They're the same resort but have different bus stops. When we stayed at AKV, there were a lot of people on the buses who weren't sure which bus stop they needed to get off at. It's definitely worth a trip from AK park!

We prefer the lunch over the dinner.
. . . the fare is a little lighter
. . . the price is better
. . . the appys and salads are the same
. . . the lower number of people eating
. . . the ability to see animals on the Savannah

First, you can't go wrong with either lunch of dinner. Sanaa is one of our favorite disney restaurants and the food is amazing. Since your son wants another 1/2 day in the park I would definitely go in the evening. If you go midday it will probably be 2 before you get into the park and give him only a few hours. I'd suggest getting to the park, giving him the time he wants there, and then heading to Sanaa.

The issue is to be dining during daylight to enjoy the animals.

Lunch or early dinner - which ever works for your touring style.

We had dinner at Sanaa and regretted it. It was dark out so although we had a window seat we couldn't see anything. Also the kids weren't too thrilled about the food even though I thought it to be fine.
