My 14 year old is not overly adventurous when it comes to food. Will he be able to order the lunch burger at dinner?

I hate to cancel a reservation just because of one picky person.

1) Not at Sanaa.
2) They change-over the kitchen "lines" and the burgers are put away for other food stuffs (more profitable ones).
3) That is why they took it off the menu.
4) What about
. . . just the steak?
. . . just the bread service?

Thanks, I'm hoping to sell him on the steak. He doesn't eat a lot of bread or sauces.

Other picky eaters seem to have had luck asking for a larger portion of a kid's meal, if there is something on the kid's menu that you think might appeal. Sanaa is really wonderful so I hope you can make it work!

The pulled pork was pretty basic. It sounds more adventurous on the menu than it actually is

This. 100%. We're talking Disney here. If you go to Chefs de France expecting a French meal, you will be sorely disappointed. If you go to Sanaa expecting nothing but exotic fare, you'll be disappointed there as well.

Unless a medical condition, sometimes picky eaters have to learn to eat with the rest of us.

I won’t flame you, but he has sensory processing disorder, so unless everyone wants to witness projectile vomiting, we have to take care with what he eats. It is getting better, but we prefer to practice new and adventurous foods at home.
It’s a bummer for us, but we respect the diners around us.

If you had mentioned this reason in your initial post I'm certain you wouldn't have received that reply from Rusty.
Hope you can find something on the menu that works so you all don't have to miss out!

I am not upset with Rusty at all. I find him invaluable with all things restaurant related on these forums. I guess some of us SE Mommas can appear a bit sensitive at times.

I have a kid on the spectrum with a lot of sensory issues as well and sometimes you grow weary of feeling like you have to justify yourself to judgmental people. Maybe it would be better if we could all just be a little less judgmental and a little more helpful... do we really have to know why the person is picky in order to help out the OP? is it really our business or place to judge whether the reason is good enough? Not directed at you in particular, it's just a jumping off point, just in general. I sometimes mention it about my son, sometimes I don't but I hate feeling like I need to justify his preferences so people don't judge whether his reason to be picky is good enough to not judge me as a parent for "allowing it."

I bet they would be able to give him something off the kids menu. Or, if nothing else, feed him before hand and then have him get some dessert and a fun drink there :)

I love Sanaa - I would hate for you to have to miss it!

Sorry - I didn't mean to come across that you were really upset - just trying to point out how more info in a first post can greatly differ the responses received.

did you mention his issue when you made ADR? Usually when you do that the chef will come out and talk to you and try to help.

I didn't, but our other child has an egg allergy, so he will be coming out anyway. To make things easier, I changed to a lunch reservation on a different day. I really appreciate everyone trying to help. Much love to the DIS!

Sure, or the picky eater makes EVERYONE miserable while they try to enjoy a meal.

I was going to suggest this, not only to have the burger, but to have a better view of the animals in the daytime, as compared to at night when it is more difficult to see out the windows.

And much love to you, too!!!!

I see OP already changed, but this is a great idea too!
