Has anyone been to the new restaurant at AKV? DH and I have reservations there for this Saturday night to celebrate our Anniversary. We are wondering what the dress code is (casual, dressy casual or dressy) and how the food is. thanks! :cool1:

WE HAVE EATEN A FEW TIMES AT SANAA WE LOVE IT THERE, ITS BEEN QUIET WHEN WE HAVE BEEN THERE. WE TRY TO GET WINDOW SEAT. THAT BIRD YOU SEE IN ON OF THE PHOTOS WATCHED US EAT MOST OF THE TIME WE WERE THERE. HE IS THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS FIGURED OUT HOW TO GET PAST THE SECURITY WIRES. DRESS IS CASUAL BUT WE DIDNT GO IN TEE SHIRTS. IF I REMEMBER I HAD A CHICHEN DISH COOKED AND SERVED IN BANANA LEAVES. YOU DONT GET LOTS BUT WHAT YOU GET IS EXCELENT.

I had asked about Sanaa a little while back, since we have a dinner ADR there on our July trip. From what I found out, the food is going to be very good there. People recommended the bread service. You get to choose 3 breads and 3 accompaniments to go with them. Definitely sounds like something DH and I would love. I read their kids' menu on All Ears, as I was concerned if they would have anything my 3- and 5-year old would like, and there is the usual kids' menu food, like a burger for example. People also told me that they will alter the spice of their dishes, so if you don't like spicy food you can tell them not to make it spicy, and if you like extra spice they will accommodate. I don't know if this only applies to certain dishes though.

We ate at Sanaa on New Years night; loved our evening there.

We had and suggest the bread service mentioned. The tomato soup was awesome. Unlike many that you'll try it was clear that this soup was made from fresh tomatoes, nothing canned or processed about it. I had the sustainable fish, char which was great. My friend had the shrimp dish and she really enjoyed that. Portions were filling. We had the dessert sampler to finish off the meal. It is a definite do over for us, although we are trying Jiko on our next trip.

I ate at Sanaa in March and LOVED it. Best non-signature in all WDW to me. There is no dress code - it's casual.

I particulary enjoyed the Watermelon, Radish, and Lime selection in my salad sampler.
The Slow Cooked in Gravy, Simple, and Well Seasoned entree with Red Curry Chicken, Beef Short Ribs, and 5 Grain Pilaf was very satisfying.
For dessert, don't miss the Chai Creme and/or Passion Fruit Kulfi!

I would suggest going early and/or staying late. It's fun to go out to the firepit area and watch the animals. At 7:30 there is story telling around the fire. At 8:15 they do a drum procession in the lobby. At 8:30 there is a special presentation in the 'library'. I learned about the big cats of Botswana (lions, cheetahs, and leopards) the night I went. It was a fabulous finish to my wonderful meal. The whole evening was really special. Great choice for an anniversary meal!

WOW! Thanks everyone for the responses and pictures...Now I am really excited.

We have a reservation for 8pm, but we may try to move it up tomorrow night to an earlier time. We don't want to miss all those events!

The food looks yummy. Looks like it will be a great way to cap off our day at AK!!
