San Juan Pre-Cruise - Marriott Stellaris/LaTerrazza

Our family is doing the 1/10/16 southern Caribbean cruise out of San Juan and are looking for a place to stay one night prior to our cruise.

Anyone have any experience with the Marriott Stellaris or La Terrazza?

Traveling will be mysel and my husband, son 21) and sons girlfriend (20).

We are working on a Southern itinerary as well, so I looked those up. One is close to the airport and closer to the Pan America port that you are likely leaving from. The other is in Old San Juan.

For us, deciding where to stay involved the question of what part of SJ we wanted to stay in. What we would be doing. For us, we would want to see Old San Juan, and will just take a cab over to Pan America pier. So we're going to stay in OSJ. I've got my eye on Hotel El Convento.

So I would recommend thinking about what you want to do, how long a cab ride you want to the pier (remembering that most Southern cruises leave in the evening, and you can check in and then leave for sightseeing as long as you're back for muster/safety drill), and that sort of thing, then choose the hotel that works the best for your plans.

We will be on the same 1/10 cruise!

I found a great rate for Condado Plaza Hilton on hotels.com for two nights pre-cruise and one night post cruise. ($159/nt+tax &resort fee=$208/nt) I also found out that they have an Avis rental car on-site, so we are leaning towards just renting a car for 1 day to visit the rain forest & do a biobay tour. (Originally we planned to do a 2 day rental from the airport, but we'd need to pay for parking at the hotel, plus cab to take us from airport to cruise pier on 1/10. In the long run, I think that using cabs + 1 day rental from Avis @ Condado Hilton will be cheaper & easier.)

We are so excited for this cruise! January can't get here fast enough!
