We would like to do a long weekend (Thurs-Sun) in San Diego hitting Sea World the San Diego Zoo and the Beach. They all look pretty centrally located within a few miles of each other.

Could we feasibly do all without getting a rental car just cabs to from a central hotel? If so, any recommendations on where to stay?

Also, I am eligible to stay on base at any military base in the area, would any of those locations be feasible without a rental car?

Possible but you would be renting a lot of cabs. They are expensive and time consuming so you would probably be better off renting a car here. Preferably from a car rental place off of the airport so they don't hit you with all the airport fees.

Hi. Check out the Holiday Inn Express Old Town. Very, very central location and they offer a free shuttle service to Sea World and the Zoo plus the airport and downtown. Free breakfast too. That only leaves the beach for cabs - Mission Beach is only maybe 5 miles away. Plus Old Town would be a fun, authentic San Diego area to stay in with lots of restaurant choices - and the Historic Old Town Park and business district themselves are worth a visit, particulary nice to stroll through in the evening. The hotel gets good reviews. But it is right by the 5 freeway - so I would request a non-freeway side room in advance to avoid any noise problems.
