Hey there!

Any locals about favorite San Diego Restaurants that are easy to reach if you don't have a car?

Thanks in advance!

Where are you staying? San Diego is an awfully big place, so without a car I'd want to recommend stuff that's not too far.

We'll be staying at Four Points by Sheraton on First Avenue.

Ok cool! You're downtown which means you are close to a LOT of great restaurants! You're several blocks away from the Gaslamp. You can walk or take a very short cab ride. The Old Spaghetti Factory is a favorite of a lot of my friends and not too expensive. One gimmicky place is "Strip Club" which is a steakhouse NOT an adult club lol, but the hook is that you cook your own steak on the grill. In my opinion, I don't want to pay for a steak at a restaurant and then have to cook it myself, but some people think that's a cool idea ;) Yardhouse is a local favorite and RA sushi is really awesome if you're a sushi fan. Searsucker is a cool restaurant downtown although it's a little pricey. It's run by Brian Malarkey from Top Chef. There are TONS AND TONS of restaurants all up and down 5th Avenue so I usually just like to walk up and down and look at the menus (most places have them posted right outside) and see what seems good to me at the time. Oh, and if you want dessert, there is a Ghirardelli downtown also with YUMMY ice cream sundaes ;)

Rockin' Baja is really great baja style seafood and Mexican food.

Karl Strauss has great food, and great beer.

Cafe Sevilla has really good tapas.

There are tons and tons of great little independent restaurants. You can also hop the ferry and ride over to Coronado and walk around the landing. Il Fornaio is there, and really good.

Thanks to both of you!

I'm sure we'll eat very well during our week in San Diego!

Jackie, Hotel Circle is a very popular area because of its central location - it's also three minutes from my house, so I hope it's a "good area" ;) It's right along the highway, so you're not going to be getting sprawling ocean views or anything like that, but it is close to many major attractions. Will you be renting a car? It will make it much easier. Also please keep in mind that Legoland is about 30-40 minutes north of San Diego in Carlsbad.
