We will be San Diego for 5 nights the middle of July. I am looking for good restaurant suggestions. We just want good food and would prefer for it not to be a chain restaurant (Applebees, Outback ect).

There use to be a great little place on either Harbor or Shelter island that served seafood. You just walked up to the window and ordered. It was just a little building/shack type of place. They had tables right there where you could sit and eat next to the boats. The food was FRESH and GREAT. I do not remember where it was or what it's name is/was. Is there anything like that there?

So far we plan on either an late lunch or early dinner at Poseidon Restaurant On the Beach in Del Mar. We also have to go to El Indio, that is a must. :thumbsup2

Please help us with other suggestions. Thank you in advance.

Here are some suggestions:

C-Level on Harbor Island (the food and views of downtown are amazing)
Rockin' Baja Lobster in Old Town
Fish House Veracruz (locations in San Marcos, Carlsbad & Temecula)
Corvette Diner in Hillcrest (comfort food, 50's theme)
Anthology in Little Italy (if you like listening to music)
Rei Do Gado (Brazilian Steakhouse in Downtown)
Seau's, the Restaurant in Mission Valley (Junior' Seau's sports-themed eatery)
Trattoria Acqua in La Jolla (good Italian food)

For fast food:

In-n-Out Burgers
Rubio's fish Tacos
Fins Fish Tacos (only one location...in La Jolla Village Square)

That's all I can think of at the moment. Have a great time. :)

Thank you munchkinsmom for all the suggestions. I will go online tomorrow and check out location and make some plans.

Does anyone have a favorite seafood place (besides C-Level :lovestruc ) We will certainly be trying that one. Thanks Munchkinsmom

Does anyone remember the stand seafood place I was talking about? It was years ago. I just can't imagine there isn't anyplace like it left.

You're welcome! :)

With regards to your inquiry about the seafood stand, could it possibly be Anthony's Fish Grotto right on Harbor Drive? It's a restaurant, but I believe they have a walk-up window where you can order food. It's been a while since I've been there. The food's okay from what I remember, but I prefer The Fish Market which is also on Harbor Drive a couple of blocks away, right next to the Midway. I didn't reference The Fish Market since it's a chain with a few locations in Northern California and Arizona but their food is good too!

Could it be Point Loma Seafoods?

I've been taking notes too for my trip later this year.

It's Point Loma Seafood...

Try the fried clam sandwiches... YUM!

Mexican Restaurant = Casa De Pico! Yumm!

There is a BEAUTIFUL rest in San Diego near Sea World called "Bali Hai"

Gorgeous views, decent prices, fun food. http://www.balihairestaurant.com/

My husband lived in SD for 8 yrs. He is always telling me he wants to take me there so we can experience the best food ever! Baja Rockin' Lobster is one he has made numerous mentions of. Now I'm intriuged. He said it will be a great place to take the kids even. I saw it on my last trip out there, but didn't go. We will definitely go this winter. The other place he has planned for us is "Del Norte?" He said it's the best Mexican restaurant on earth and I think it's in Carlsbad. So we're going to both.

We went to Rockin Baja Lobster in Newport Beach. I thought it was ok.. a little spendy for mexican but very tasty. Very relaxed (sandy feet all over the place) atmosphere! :)

Hope you have a great trip!

Wow...what wonderful suggestions. I am looking forward to my next trip. ;) Point Loma Seafood was the place I was thinking and looking for. THANK YOU, THANK YOU

Does anyone else have any recommendations?

:yay:

There is a Mexican place right near Point Loma Seafood called Miguel's. It is a long-time favorite of my family.
