We'll be arriving in SD on 4/30, leaving 5/7. Still haven't made our hotel ressies. 5/3-5/7 dh has a conference in SD. 4/30 - 5/2 we want to play.... planning on going up to LA for those days. Does anyone know of a nice/but not too pricey place to stay (only plan to sleep and shower) and what are the "must sees".

Heading back to SD the same.... dh's conference is in the gaslamp area, suggestions on places to stay near or in gaslamp area - not opposed to beach. We plan on doing the zoo, naval area... any other "must sees", what about dining....

Any advice would be appreciated... We're from the mid-west so don't get west very often. Feel like we hav to squeeze in as much as we can, since not sure when we'll be back.

TIA

OMG there are so many hotels in SD I cannot even begin to tell you. You may want to google trip advisor. A favorite and a lovely hotel is the HARD ROCK HOTEL, its right in the GasLamp. GasLamp is awesome. And you will be smack in the middle of SD!!! http://www.hardrockhotelsd.com/

Seaport Village, Ole Towne, SD Zoo, Sea World, Balboa Park, Little Italy to name a few. At the Seaport they have fab bus tours. Its about $30.00pp but it is all day and you can jump on and off the tour bus!!!

Here is a fun website to look at …http://www.sandiego.org/nav/Visitors/WhatToDo/ActivitiesAttractions

ANYWAY, welcome to San Diego! You will love it! It is our little piece of heaven! :sunny:

Gas Lamp is great....for LA I would stay in Huntington Beach - technically not in LA but there really isn't a good reason to stay in LA. It is a day trip from somewhere else.
