Can anyone recommend a hotel that is close to Sea World. We would like a nice hotel that is resort-like so that we can relax when we're not touring around the city.

Thanks very much!!

Here's what I found in my AAA book

The Hilton San Diego Resort is rated as a 4 diamond .

Paradise Point is rated as a 3 diamond and is very close. "44 acre tropical island paradise, 462 lavishly remodeled guestrooms, new spa and fitness center, sparkling pools, tennis, putting golf and marina, award winning dining and live entertainment, across from SeaWorld. paradisepoint.com

Double Tree Club Hotel (3 Diamonds) is on Hotel Circle and boasts "Heated pool, spa and sundeck, Panini Grill, The Club Lounge, fitness center, kids video game room, gift shop and complimentary freshly baked cookie upon arrival" doubletreesdzoo.com

Handlery Hotel and Resort 3 Diamonds "Three pools, eight tennis courts, and newly redecorated guestrooms. Minutes from Sea World..." handlery.com

Holiday Inn Harbor View (3 Diamond) Wow, this one is 16 stories and from what it looks like any room on the 6th floor and up would have a spectacular view. holiday-inn.com

Ocean Park Inn (3 diamond motel) I always wanted to stay at this one. From the Picture it is direcly on the beach. "3 stories, interior corridors 73 newly renovated rooms with patio or balcony, coffee maker, mini fridge, data port and hair dryer..." oceanparkinn.com

Pacific Terrace is another on that is directly on the beach. pacificterrace.com

I haven't stayed at any of these. Last time I was in San Diego I was a broke college student who could barely afford the Days Inn Hotel circle. Which is a nice budget motel. ;)

We have upcoming ressies at the Hyatt Islandia, which is supposed to be very close to Sea World. We booked through Priceline and got very lucky - we're only paying $50 night. Good luck.

I would recommend the Hyatt Islandia - great hotel and super close to Sea World. That $50 rate is fantastic. If you have the Entertainment Book, that hotel usually is available through the Hotels at Half Price program - I would recommend checking it out. We had a great lobster dinner ($15.95 for full pound steamed lobster) in the restaurant at the hotel - great deal.

Just got back last night from a stay at the DoubleTree Club. Would not recommend it. It was not bad at all ($116 a night internet rate), but the staff was MUCH less than helpful and friendly. The rooms were large and spacious - 2 queen beds and a sofa bed. The 5 of us had plenty of space. But the staff could not answer the simplest of questions. The heated pool was cold cold!

I will not stay here again. Like I said - nothing horrible or anything, just nothing great - certainly not a 3 star hotel!
