San Diego Cruises 2021

Her route forecast has been updated and no longer includes the loop around Cuba. Looks like she’s moored outside the canal entrance waiting her turn

I'm so scared to be excited about this. We're booked on the 9/24 cruise and I so want it to happen but I'm still worried about that one getting lopped off like the first Fantasy cruise. Still, happy to see that the signs are pointing in the right direction...

I'm on the same cruise. I've decided to allow myself to get excited at this point. Here's to hoping for us both that it isn't cancelled last minute.

We are scheduled to be on the EBPC in November. Fingers crossed! One question popped up in our family discussion….If the CSO is reinstated,/extended, could Disney decide to split this cruise into two 7 night cruises back-to-back?

It would be tricky to do that. It would mean debarking passengers in a foreign country. And reboarding/boarding new passengers in that same country.

I doubt that they could do SD/east coast in 7 nights. The distance from SD to, say, Galveston is around 5500 nautical miles, they'd have to be booking at 35 knots for all 7 days to make it. I don't think I'd like to be on that cruise.

The 7 night limit hasn't been relevant for a while--it was an early part of the restart rules but was removed before any cruise actually restarted. (For example, the Celebrity Equinox has 9- and 12-night cruises leaving from the US in the next few weeks.) Having said that, I suspect that risk-averse Disney may still shy away from longer cruises to reduce the risk of an onboard outbreak.

On the plus side, it's only a 2N cruise. It would be a great first cruise from SD for DCL.

That is what I was thinking. I'm seeing more and more people join our cruise group on another shall not be named site. I think people are getting excited seeing the Wonder on the move and wanting their DCL fix no matter how they get it.

I think the other real challenge for EBPC is meeting PVSA. Only the ABC Islands (which are very restricted) and Colombia count for a port call to be legal, and all of the legal options have issues and risks (especially relative to the long cruise exposure/incubation risk).

The length of the EBPC is certainly more of a risk (and may be its downfall), but in addition to the ABC Islands, any South American port would count for the PVSA. Ecuador is currently a level 3, so a lower travel risk (per the CDC) than most and its current entry requirements are: testing within 3 days of travel, or proof of Vax. Easy Peasy.

I am still confident that Disney finds a way to make it go. Although as I've said before, there's little to no chance that it sails with its original itinerary.

For folks on the 9/24 2N, have you been able to check-in? Any issues? I gather the Safe Passage site is not enabled for the SD cruises yet.

From the info we've been able to gather in our cruise group, Safe Passage isn't set up for California cruises yet. Some folks have had success doing part of the check in (picture/document upload, etc). I, personally, have had no luck. I have no check in button no matter the browser or device I try. Actually on hold right now to see if I can assistance with that.

We ended up deciding to go ahead and book this one too on Sunday night. The Check In button appeared for me last night a little after 9. I wasn't expecting it until Midnight but was checking throughout the day yesterday, just in case... I checked at 9pm Pacific, since I figured it would equal Midnight Eastern... nope, still nada. But then saw it finally show up at about 920 last night. At first it was there, then it was gone, then it was back again. I started the Check In process last night and finished this morning (adding the pictures of the passports). We got Boarding Broup 2, 11:45 Port Arrival Time.

I added the QR codes to my Apple Wallet and I noticed that, even though I did the check in for both of us, I got Boarding Group 2 and my girlfriend actually got Boarding Group 3. I must have been the last person to get BG2. Both Passes show a PAT of 11:45 though. When I look at the document they say to print a hard copy of, it shows BG2 for both.

Still no love on Safe Passage. I've been checking that repeatedly since we PIF Sunday night. I figured it was way too optimistic to expect it to show up right away, but I needed more things to hit a Refresh button on. Can't seem to get enough of those these days.

What is everyone's best guess on if they will require vaccinations for everyone over 12 as they have to do for the Bahamas? My guess is they will require the testing but no vax. One of my daughters will have received both doses but will only be 12 days out from her second. Thanks!

My preference is that they require vaccines for all eligible passengers, but I don' think they will. I think they're very hesitant to make that leap. Absent some governmental requirement I think they'll stay as is.

Full disclosure, I've been wrong about just about everything DCL has done. 🤣

Gut instinct is that they will require both doses.
Now, is 12 days good enough???
I'd like to believe so, but I'm not making the rules...

(I do feel really bad for the kids turning 12 where they just can't get their vaccines to coordinate with their planned cruise.)

I suspect that the 12+ rule is going to be in place for the Wonder sailings. California has no resistance to businesses requiring vaccinations. I feel so much for those kids just turning 12 or those that haven't been able to fully complete the 5 weeks to fully vaccinated.

Note: on my check in issues. I called DCL and they were stumped. I tried browsers I had never used before to access the website and the link still didn't show for me. They are filing an IT ticket to get it resolved for me.

That said, as soon as I got off the phone, I cleared cache & cookies in a browser I never used for DCL before and it all of a sudden worked. Makes no sense but I figured I'd share what I learned with the class in case others have a similar issue.

We are booked on this 9/24 cruise also... made alternate plans at DL for the same weekend. So my family is debating which one we want to do. I would probably rather have DCL cancel and get my $$ back, since we have another cruise booked in April. We can wait for that one.
But if DCL doesn't cancel, maybe we'll move the cruise to something else next year before we hit that 15-day window. We are all vaxxed and fine with restrictions... just not feeling it.
