San Diego Area Hotels

Hi all, I need your expert help! My family is taking a trip to DLR near the end of July, and one of us just got four free tickets to Sea World, so we were thinking of adding that on to our trip. We would add it onto the beginning, which would mean we would need a hotel near Sea World for one night on Friday, July 17th.

I am not finding many affordable options for this date. By affordable, I mean we are trying to stick to around $100 a night. It seems like the hotels in San Diego are ridiculously expensive compared to where I usually vacation. I thought it was due to it being a Friday night, but I checked on the following Wednesday night (the last day of our trip) and it was just as bad. We are expanding our options and are willing to stay anywhere between DLR and Sea World.

So, are there any affordable and acceptable hotels in between those locations? What would be good communities to look in?

Super 8 LA MESA was our go-to. Nice, quiet area. Your generic continental breakfast, and CHEAP nightly rates. It's really a pretty decent hotel. We stayed their three different times with my mother who is very picky about hotels. It's a 15 minute drive or so to Seaworld.
