Hey just wondering if any of ya'll might have any ideas for any interesting or offbeat sights between Houston and San Antonio. I live in Houston,Tx and plan on taking a long weekend to San Antonio,Tx this summer. Just looking for something that I haven't done yet, and to break up the drive. Or some interesting spots inside of San Antonio, cool restaurants, bars, sights, etc. Thanks in advance. :hippie:

my SIL lives in san antonio, and is always hounding us to come visit. she says we'll love the riverwalk, which is basically a shopping/restaurant/entertainment area, if what i've been told is correct. my DH says he doesn't need to cross 3 states to eat and shop (we live in NE alabama and he and his sister aren't close), but if you're planning to go anyway, i'd suggest checking it out. she says it's great. i would also go to the alamo, just to take pics so i could say i went, lol.

Natural Bridge Taverns is fun. You take an elevator down and you can see ice crystals inside the caves. Also New Braunfels.:cool1::cool1: All is is very close to San Antonio.

Not my first visit to San Antonio so I've been to the Riverwalk a couple of times, it's really nice and a deffinite on this trip. Last time we went we went to the Natural Bridge Caverns, didn't see the ice crystals though, that sounds neet. I was thiking of going to the Natural Bride Wildlife Ranch next door, it sounds pretty cool and havn't done it yet. Havn't been to New Braunfels though, what's there? Is that where they have Splash Town? Won't be wanting to visit Splash Town since were going to Six Flags and I like they're water park.

Tons of cool bars and restaurants in Austin on 6th st (though you probably know about that) The biggest music scene in Texas is in Austin. Too many places to list.

Also, New Braunfels doesn't have a Splash Town but Schlitterbahn, one of the best and biggest water parks, much much better than six flags water park. Not to mention tubing on the river there. New Braunfels has good German and Texas food. I like New Braunfels Smoke House.

Texas also has a good Texas travel guide.

Yeah I know about 6th St in Austin, been a couple of times. Not planning on going to Austin this trip. Ooops on the Splash Town part, always get those two mixed up. I eat lots of Mexican food since I live in Houston, but I don't get alot of German food, sounds interesting. Might convince the boyfried to stop in there on the way there. Any German restaurnt suggestions?
