Hello!

We are planning a last minute trip to SAT this wkd for spring break. I would love any hotel advice--I am looking for a nice hotel near the Riverwalk without breaking the bank!!!

MUST HAVES:
Outdoor pool
Clean & safe

TIA for any help!

No hotel advise but a warning there is a high school choir competition this weekend. DS and 61 other kids from our high school are flying out tomorrow. They are also all going to Six Flags on Saturday.

The Menger Hotel is nice, and it's also right next to the Alamo and about 2 blocks from Riverwalk. Also look into the Emily Morgan hotel.

I also highly recommend taking a horse and carriage ride. Personal reasons there. Enjoy! :thumbsup2

We stayed at La Mansion del Rio last summer. It was nice and in a good location. We got a great rate by calling the hotel and asking for the SAVE rate. You do, however, have to pay to park.

Emily Morgan is about $185.00 a night

The Grand Hyatt is $279.00 a night

Hilton Palacio Del Rio is $229.00 a night

The Marriott Rivercenter is $249.00 a night

The St. Anythony/Wyndham Hotel is $143.00 a night

The Menger Hotel is $179.00 a night (This one is right across the street from the Alamo...plus it's Haunted LOL)

The St. Anthonys is my personal favorite...not because it's cheaper, but because I think it's the most beautiful of all the hotels. You get a real good feel of old San Antonio at this hotel with the luxury of a modern hotel.

In comparison, I have AKL for my trip next month at $156.00 a night for the entire week. :)

I second this. :thumbsup2 I stayed at the Menger a couple of summers ago and the location was perfect! It's right next to the Rivercenter mall and we had a view of the carriage rides from our room. It's like a mini museum in there. You can go to the bar where Teddy Roosevelt recruited the Rough Riders. There's a Mae West suite from what I remember. And there are also some very interesting ghost stories.

The Hyatt Regency on the riverwalk looks really cool, too. It's pretty much right on the riverwalk and it has a nice jazz club.

We went to San Antonio last week for our Spring Break.

Are you sure you don't want an indoor pool? I don't think that it is warm enough to swim outside yet! :goodvibes

When we were there the Sea World water park and splash play areas were open. My kids played for less than 10 minutes and were freezing. Trust me, they don't EVER complain about playing in the water!

We stayed at a Drury Inn on the loop. It was 20 minutes from the Riverwalk, we paid $93 a night. We didn't really want to be on the Riverwalk because of the price and the noise. It was nice and had an indoor pool. They also had a great free breakfast and free snacks from 5:30-7. There is another Drury on the Riverwalk but it is more like $150 a night.

We had a great trip. I have many fond memories of going to San Antonio as a kid and it was fun to take my kids there.

We stayed at the Drury Inn on the Riverwalk in the renovated former Alamo National Bank building. My kids still talk about it 3 years later.

I stayed at the Marriott Rivercenter a couple of years ago and it was very nice. It has an outdoor pool on a rooftop and is in a great location!

The Hotel Contessa is my favorite one there. But you can do well with Priceline. The ones mentioned here will all come up as 4*, or 3*.

That's the Drury Inn Plaza, and was going to be my suggestion :) They have reasonably priced suites too.
Parking at any riverwalk hotel will run you 18-20 dollars a night. If you have AAA, parking at the Drury Inn Plaza was $16.

The St Anthony is nice! I had no idea that this one could be such a bargain. :thumbsup2 And that's a great price for AKL.

I wonder if the OP found a hotel yet?

we stayed at the Omni La Mansion on the Riverwalk for our honeymoon....I LOVE this hotel!! it's wonderful, right smack on the Riverwalk. We parked our car in the parking garage and didn't need it again until we left. We walked everywhere.
I would highly reccommend this hotel !! (you're within walking distance of all the great restaurants, the Alamo, etc. and right across the River, you can catch a boatride up the river. :cool1:

If you are looking for a little more budget. We like to stay at the Holiday Inn Express San Antonio Rivercenter Area. It is $113 for a 2 queen room and
has a good breakfast. $132, you can get a separate living area and kitchenette with fridge and microwave.

The hotel is not on the river, but they have a good shuttle to the river area or you can drive over and pay for parking. The breakfast is pretty good. Oh, the shuttle is free.

We like the other hotels, too, but we like to stay in two-room suites that don't cost a fortune. There is also a Staybridge hotel that near the Holiday Inn Express. It is a little more though. There are also 2 Embassy Suites that we like with indoor pools but they are not close to the river.

Hope that helps.
