San Angel's Inn during Illuminations

My Hubby and I are going to WDW on our belated Honeymoon in July. For my birthday, we have reservations at San Angel's Inn for 7:30 p.m. I was hoping that we could get outside seats to be able to see Illuminations while we are eating. I've been to WDW 3 times before and seen Illuminations but this will be my husband's first trip. Any suggestions on how to boost my chances for getting a table outside? Thanks for any suggestions you can give me.

There's no way to boost your chances -- the San Angel Inn does not have any outside seating! Although it is themed as an outdoor market place, the restaurant is totally enclosed inside the pyramid. The lagoon seating you are thinking of is at the counter service place, San Angel Cantina.

The best place to watch Illuminations is by sitting on the bench right next to the San Angel Cantina. If I were you I would cancel those reservations.

Thanks for the info. I didn't realize that it was the counter service they were talking about. I was not informed of this when I made the reservations. And I even asked the person who I made the reservations with about sitting outside and he said I would have to talk to someone at the restaurant when we checked in for our reservations. I guess he didn't realize what I was asking. I will definitely be cancelling those plans and making others. Thanks again!!!

The place you made PS for (San Angel Inn) is NOT counter service, it's just not outside. I would encourage you to keep the PS though as it is a wonderful restaurant, and then watch Illuminations when you're done.

The San Angel Inn is inside; it is a full service restaurant. The Cantina de San Angel is outside; it is a counter service restaurant.

A table on the lagoon at the Cantina is a great place to view Illuminations. In fact, one table has what looks like an upturned boat or something on the shore in front of it. That is a speaker.

I have seen people stake out tables as much as two hours before the show. We usually get there an hour and a half before the show, just to be sure. Anything more would be excessive. :)

Then again, we usually go during school vacation weeks, so it is busier.

I had looked at the menu for the San Angel Inn and it really looked good. Since I really like Mexican food, I think I might just reschedule and eat there one day for lunch. And maybe the night we watch Illuminations, try to get a table at the Cantina for a light supper. Thanks to all of you for the info. :) :) :)

I have heard a lot of good things about the San Agenl Inn. We never got around to eating there, for some reason. I think you might have the right idea.

"I've found and married my Prince Charming!!!"

I like this statement you have on your posts. Congratulations!

When I get to Disney, I'm going to buy a license plate holder that says "Looking for my prince charming".!! Of course, he'll have to be a Disney nut like me!!

Good luck with your search. I feel very lucky. I think I fell for him when we first got re-introduced to each other right after Lilo and Stitch came out at the movies. He told me he went and watched it by himself and really enjoyed it and about how much he loves Disney movies, all of this before he knew about my obsession with Disney. I knew then that my search was over !!! They are out there-keep looking. Have fun on your trip. We'll be there in 19 days.......and counting.

We had numereous times at the Cantina during our trip in December. I had vegetarian taco salad and vegetarian nachos both were good. But I like the taco salad mucho bettero :).
