We ate there in June...not super recently, but recent enough to remember the details! It was a REALLY nice atmosphere, especially in the summertime--dark and cool and gets ya out of the blazing heat and blinding sunshine. The food was just "okay". We are a family of Mexican food FREAKS, which is why we tried it despite so-so reviews from others. We just knew we had to give it a shot instead of always wondering if maybe it really was super delicious and we were missing out. :teeth: Well, it wasn't super delicious. Just decent. The prices weren't horrible but they weren't low, either. Overall I give it a B-...C for the food and A- for the setting. :earsboy:

I second TinkerbellMama's opinion exactly. We eat there pretty much every trip (last trip was in January).

we eat there every trip, but not for the food, particularly. The atmosphere is what makes it.

That said, their salsa had been upgraded to a fresher blend last time we were there, and the tomatillo sauce (green sauce) on the enchiladas was pretty good.

The atmopshere is great~the food and the service are okay. We do eat here as I love the atmopshere and I don't mind since we get the 20% off the bill, but it's not really the greatest food wise. They always seem to be on top of you to take your order and then it can be forever before you see your server again.

I dined at the San Angel Inn for lunch in Feb. 2004. I was very surprised by the service and food. I always wanted to eat here because of the El Rio De Tiempo passes by it (I know that sounds silly) and for the atmosphere.

I really enjoyed it. The service was fast and friendly and the food was very good too. I had the Plato Mexicano (grilled beef taco, chicken enchilada and quesadilla, served with refried beans, guacamole and grilled vegetables). Also for lunch if you have a AP you get 10% off for lunch.

It's just one of those places, I guess. Some love it and others hate it. Good Luck

I have eaten here twice. I want to like it, because the atmosphere is great. Both times the manager was extremely rude to us. It was the same man both times. The food is only okay and the prices are reasonable for Disney. Decent sized portions. The service is below average by Disney standards. I haven't tried it again, but I may eventually. Starting off my meal by having someone be so rude kind of put me off to the entire experience before I was even seated at our table. Maybe the staffing will change the next time I go.

DH and I eat at SanAngel Inn everytrip, starting with our honeymoon. We love it. The food alone is not what brings us back but the whole experience. The atmosphere to us is very relaxing and really makes us feel like we are on vacation. Service has always been good. We start with the appetizer...queso fun dido (sp?) and margarita's...both of which are excellent. I usually have the plato mexicano and DH, some beef tenderloin and shrimp...but his varies everytrip. The food is not what I consider traditional mexican food. More of a cross between CHI CHI's and traditional..although I am not a good judge.

We always leave feeling very full. We ride the indoor ride immediately afterwards (after a margarita or two) and then stroll world showcase until Illuminations. Although San Angel has been well suited for our kids (6 and 3yrs), this would be our "date night" activity of choice.

If you have not heard of www.allearsnet.com, be sure to check out the menus page for food ideas and pricing.

we have had both good and bad experiences at san angel but not bad enough to never go back. we are giving it another chance in april--the atmosphere is just so lovely and we usually love mexican food! ::MickeyMo

How do you get 20% off the bill?? Inquiring minds want to know.

We ate here July 2004. It was for luncho and not dinner. Prices for lunch were very reasonable and the serivce was great. We ordered and the food was delivered in approx 5 minutes!

Went back for dinner later in the trip but the prices for dinner vs. lunch were so much different we choose to eat elsewhere.

I would recomment it though.

Like a great deal of folks on this thread.. the atmosphere is what keeps me going back. In the middle of the day, the place is darker then most places, very cool and helps us to relax. When we leave I feel a little refreshed from the morning push and ready to take on the afternoon. We have never had bad service, the food as always been good and we have never left still hungry.

We have eaten there and I have to say the atmosphere is truly awesome but the food is not. Some dishes are authentic (I am married to a Mexican man--need I say more!? and some dishes are fancy taco bell (a.k.a. Gringo Food!)
If you want to experience it, go for an appetizer and margarita or a lunch. Dinner will be expensive and to me, not worth it. Service is mediocre.
Your money is better spent at Japan's Yokatori-atmosphere and delicious food or France-Chefs de France-okay atmosphere and resonable, delicious French food.

They probably have a Disney Dining Experience Card.

There is a 10% AP discount for lunch, Monday to Friday.

We had heard mixed reviews, too, but I thought the food was pretty good...yeah, it was a little pricey as compared to a Mexican restaurant at home...but it IS WDW!!! Not sure about DH - but I would love to eat there again!
