Has anyone eaten at the San Angel Inn recently? We have PS there for dinner on our Epcot day, and I am wondering if maybe I should switch it.....

Also, what suggestions do you guys have for the best counter service at Epcot (either lunch or dinner)?

Thanks!

We have, and it is excellent as ever. Enjoy.

As far as counter service in EPCOT..we usually stick to one of the quick places in the world showcase..yum!

We've been twice in the last 7 months, and have been very disappointed each time. The food is mediocre, the prices are much too high for what you get, and service is usually lacking. The margaritas are horrible, also - all they taste of is the sweet and sour mix, and it's not a good sweet and sour mix.

I would definitely switch. Our favorite at Epcot is Le Cellier, and we've never had a disappointment there. It's the favorite of a lot of people, it seems.

For counter service, we really enjoyed the Tangierine Cafe in Morrocco. You get large portions, lighter food (not fried!), and interesting choices.

I would switch. We have eaten there twice, most recently in 2003. It is nothing special, and there are so many other great choices in World Showcase. I would put San Angel just a notch above Taco Bell, but I would probably eat at Taco Bell first because of the price. Now, I do like the atmosphere of San Angel. Go on the boat ride, walk around, but eat in another "country."

My fiancee thinks the chicken mole is fantastic.
I loved the combo plate.

We've never had a bad meal, or margarita there.

My advice? Go and find out for yourself. Don't ever switch meal plans at Disney because someone here told you to do so.

We just ate there earlier this month. I love the atmosphere. Although it is pretty dark (I had a hard time reading the bill when I got it, lol). Then food was good but great. We may eat there again but it wont be an every trip type place.

We love the atmosphere at San Angel, but haven't had much luck with the entrees. We now order the Queso Fundido appetizer, which is melted cheese & chirozo(sp?) sausage that you put in soft tortillas. Delicious! DW also likes the margaritas, while I enjoy the cinnamon-flavored coffee. We also prefer Le Cellier if we are looking for a great dinner in Epcot.

it is funny to hear all the different opinions of the same restaurant...

but my vote has to be to stay with San Angel...we enjoy it every time we go...

the food is expensive...but we have never had a problem with either the food or the service...and the atmosphere is one of the best in any restaurant in epcot....

We ate there as part of our CP package. We were very disappointed in the service. However, this appetizer was the best! We are planning to return for the appetizer and drinks during lunch! ::yes:: Very Yummy!

We just ate at San Angel Inn on Tuesday (day before yesterday) for the second time. The first time was December 2002. The setting was beautiful, but we didn't enjoy the food or the service either time. As others have said though, maybe you should try it for yourself to see what you think. Some of our favorite WDW restaurants are ones that get mixed reviews.

For Epcot counter service, we loved Boulangerie Patisserie in France - so much so that we ate there twice! We also really liked Electric Umbrella in Future World.

I haven't been to San Angel in several years, but the two times I did go there I really enjoyed it (food and atmosphere).

For counter service, ditto on the patisserie in France. I discovered it on my last trip and was quite impressed! They even have chairs and tables that make you feel like you're sitting in a Paris cafe (except where we were sitting was indoors).

This was the worst meal I've ever had at WDW, possibly the worst in my life. The food was inedible, and the service was so poor that over half an hour after being served cold food by someone other than our server, with parched throats due to no drink refills and never getting the water we had requested, I went to the hostess and asked if she could get our check. I should have refused to pay the bill. I certainly didn't tip.

I would definately switch!! It's a nice atmosphere but with poor food quality and horrible service --- it's not worth going to.

Don't switch! We love it there, the food's good and the atmosphere and the margaritas are WONDERFUL! We never had problems with service either. It's funny, I know people rave over LeCellier, but we really didn't like it. Way over-priced for the child-sized steak we got! Great big plate, little tiny steak sitting on a dollop of mashed potatoes!! We still laugh about each others faces when they placed it front of us!! Good thing they had those pretzel things to fill up on!
We also like the Patisserie in France. Try the elephant ears. YUM!

Well I have to say that we just ate their on the 19th and we were very pleased with our entrees. We had excellent service and did not have to wait for any refills. I guess each person's experience is different. We would not hesitate to eat here again. Just to mention, that I have travelled to Mexico, I teach and Speak fluent Spanish, so my opinion may be slightly biased. LOL!

I would suggest switching PS, if you are expecting an authentic Mexican dining experience. The food here is extremely bland, and for some reason, every entree we've ever eaten there has tasted alike - the predominant flavor is that of the flour tortilla, which should tell you something about the fillings.
We enjoyed the atmosphere, but we both agreed that we would not eat there again, based solely on the quality (or lack thereof) of the food.
Cheers!
