San Angel Inn

Have an ADR booked at San Angel Inn in October. Hoping for the BEST:banana:, but I have to admit have read some more negative reviews. :scratchin

We always eat at San Angels it's our Favorite. Eaten there 3 different trips and it's always be very good. I always order any Fish or shrimp dish they may offer.

It's a regular stop for us, partly because if we show up at the very beginning of either lunch or dinner seatings we can always get a table without a reservation. We like being inside the pyramid, the drinks are good, prices are reasonable, the servers are always super nice (especially if you can speak some Spanish) and we like the food. For me, I can always get something gluten free without having to bother with the chef, etc as most of the entrees are naturally gluten free.

If you are only used to Tex-mex this will not be what you are used to, but they certainly have some Americanized dishes on the menu. They also have a kids menu - a cheese quesadilla is always a hit with my now 4 year old.

Not trying to hijack the thread but my DH is newly diagnosed with celiac disease and I love to hear any gluten-free recommendations! Any other favorite TS locations? Thanks!

DW has made her first dining request for Disney. She would like to eat at San Angel Inn, on the recommendation of her boss. How has it been lately? I haven't been in a number of years and back then it was kinda hit or miss....some days were good, some days were not.

If you liked it, any favs from the menu?

We ate there in January and liked it.

My son is gluten-free and that is one of the main reasons we vacation at Disney: they're allergy friendly. Almost all of Disney's table service restaurants have ample selections for gluten-free customers, and many counter service restaurants do, as well.

There are gluten-free oriented restaurant reviews for most Disney table service restaurants online. Do an Internet search for "Disney gluten review 'name of restauarant', and you'll find a review quickly.

We just ate there last week and loved it!! We had always avoided due to the bad reviews and now I wish we wouldn't have.

I had the combination platter and loved it; also had the creama Bavaria for dessert which was awesome. My DH has the chile rellano and enjoyed it as well; cheesecake for dessert which was really rich but yummy. My older son had the carne asada - the steak was a little tough but he said the flavors were good. Youngest had steak tacos off the kids menu. Both kids had the caramel ice cream and loved that as well - although I was surprised by the serving size being only one scoop - seemed liked there would have been a difference between the kids and adult portion.

I'm not a fan. I've been twice, several years apart, and while nothing we had was bad, it just wasn't interesting. It's food I could get at a local Mexican restaurant for 1/4 the price. I like La Hacienda by the water much better. Food quality is great, view is great, and good service. Price is still up there but I feel it's worth the price.

We LOVE San Angel Inn for its ambiance. It is one of our favorite places to eat because it is so beautiful. We also love mexican food. I would rate the food at SAI as okay to above average. We have another ressie there for August - am hoping the food is getting better. I would say give it a try - it is really an enjoyable place to eat.

We're checking it out for the first time during our September trip. I went back and forth, then said "what the heck?"

My 6yr old DS and I had dinner there in November- I had the Carne Asada. I found it delicious and our service was terrific. I love San Angel Inn for the atmosphere AND the food!

I had avoided it due to poor reviews here, but we went for the first time last August (my DD cannot eat gluten now, so Mexican cuisine is often a great fit.)

THE FOOD WAS GREAT!...We live in NY, and have access to a lot of good, family run Mexican places, and were very happy with our experience here!

Sanaa and Tusker House are my two favorite restaurants on property for eating gluten free. And I second what the other posters said - there is a wealth of info and dining reviews out there. Even a couple of websites that are specifically about eati gluten free in Disney/Orlando.
