Has anyone eaten here recently? We did about 10 years ago and thought the food was mediocre but LOVED the atmosphere. Thinking about trying it again for lunch and wondering what people think of the food quality now.

Is it worth another shot or should we go with Coral Reef or Chefs lunch instead?:confused3

Thanks for your help!

I ate there last week, and what a pleasant surprise! We hadn't eaten there is several years, and this was my DS's 1st time eating there. When we were seated, the menu looked nothing like the menus we saw online (allearsnet wasn't updated!), and I think my DH really wanted to walk out. We both ended up getting what was essentially soft tacos with ribeye steak! It was so flavorful! We were both pleasantly surprised. Our only complaint was that the service was a little lacking; we had to wait quite a while to get our bill...and we were sitting right next to the kitchen :(

We have had lunch there twice and the food was excellent both times

We love it here, so much so that we ate twice in the same trip! The atmosphere can't be beat and the food was scrumptious. There were 7 of us in our party and we all got different things which we all enjoyed. We like this place much better than Coral Reef. Ask for table by the water!:thumbsup2

I have no issues with the place. We've eaten there once in the last few years and it was good. I love the set-up of the place, too. Now that there's a margarita bar in there, it's just more incentive to give dining in the pyramid another go.

But, if you're really choosing between San Angel and Coral Reef, I'd say go with Coral Reef. It can get loud depending on how many small children are in the place at the time, but we've never had a bad meal or wait staff at Coral Reef. One of our favorites!

We ate there in September and it was fantastic despite mediocre reviews. So, we made a reservation there again for our trip in December and didn't like it as much. The menu had changed and the food just wasn't the same as the time before. The service both times and the atmosphere was excellent.

What I can gather from these experiences is that this place is a little hit-or-miss so I don't know how long it will take me to get back there in the future.

We love San Angel Inn. The food and the atmosphere are great. On one trip we ate there three times for dinner. Although, they've taken my favorite meal off the menu, so I think I'll have to have something different this trip. The tables are very close together and it can get loud at times, but it has never bothered us. The only thing that disappoints us is that there isn's a good dessert on the menu.

We ate at San Angel for lunch back in September and we also found the food to be just okay but we felt the atmosphere more than compensated. It was a great way to get out of the midday heat!
