I never see anything on San Angel. I was wondering if anyone can let me know what you think of the place? I will be going with a party of seven, 4 of them children ages 1-12. Thanks.

DD9 was doing a school project on Mexico, so we ate at San Angel Inn two Fridays in a row recently (April 28 and May 5 for Cinco de Mayo). She has deemed it her favorite restaurant, which for DD is saying something!

I love the atmosphere of dining under the stars - yes it is dark, and yest a bit crowded, but I get claustrophibic if people are too "in my space" and I was fine!!!

We enjoyed our food choices, I had asked for some suggestions on the board. The kids menu was good for DD - she liked the chicken quesidilla - they also have chicken fingers and a beef burrito (I think). DD also loved the Soupa Aztec, and used this as a dip for her tortilla chips, the salsa was too spicy!

They have kick *** margaritas too. First dinner there I had soup, and a combination platter that had a great piece of steak, chicken enchilada and a burrito - lots of food - I was stuffed. Second week I did soup and nachos (appetizer) and the margarita!!!

I was going to say... I have never eaten at this restaurant but would love to because of the boat ride around the inside of the restaurant. It was beautiful. But! The last picture above shows it all :thumbsup2

My DH and I went last year on our kidless trip because I have always wanted to try it. It may have been an off night but the service was horrible, after being seated we waited 20 minutes for the server to greet us, I had to find the manager just to make sure that we actually had a server. The soda had an off flavor so I asked for another one and the server said it always taste that way and suggested I have a marguerita instead. The food was ok but nothing special. While many like it I found it not to my liking and I would not go again.

I adore it! It is one of my favorite in Epcot. Most of the time you need a ressie though since it is quite small and the lines to get in are usually long! :sunny: :wizard:

My family of four which includes two kids ages 11 and 9 love San Angel Inn. We have been three times now, the food has always been good and the service was impeccable our last two visits. I think Mexican food really differs around the country so some people might be used to a different style of Mexican food and therefore not like what they serve there. It is not Tex Mex style. We are from Colorado and found it to be somewhat different than our local cuisine but not so much so we didn't find things we have here at home. The atmosphere alone is worth it to me. If you have restless kids there is a shopping area right there that someone could take them to while you wait for your food. If you luck out, you can sit close to the "river" and see the boats go by. The volcano is my kids favorites, it has hidden Mickey's in the smoke so that keeps my kids happy while they wait for those to come up. Good luck!

Thanks so much. We are going to give it a go. 3 more days---- I cant wait. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

We ate there a few weeks ago and enjoyed the food. My daughter said, after her first bite, "Now I know how Mexican food is suppoesed to taste." The only problem we had was with the seating. San Angle Inn is rather small but has a lot of tables so things can get very crowded very quickily. Also they do not have a ramp to go down, you must go down a short flight of stairs.

If you've ever tasted authentic mexican food I do not think you will enjoy this place. Even if you've tasted Tex-Mex food I don't think you'll like this place. Tostitos chips is not what I'd call real chips and salsa but that is just my opinion. Here in Texas you can find a million small taquerias with prices less than $10 and would be greatly pleased by the food. Once again, this is only my opinion, I'm sure many will disagree. I do have to agree with the others and say that the atmosphere is awesome.

I don't think "many" people will completely disagree with your opinion on the food. I don't think its the best Mexican food I've ever had but I do enjoy the food. To me, its decent, not too spicy Mexican food that will appeal to most palettes. Its not as good as the little place I go to near my house but then that place isn't sitting inside Epcot and it doesn't have a river and a pyramid to look at. You really cannot compare any of the restaurants of WDW with local, hole in the wall joints that serve exceptional food at really low prices. For theme park food, I think San Angel is above average. And if you are from Texas no wonder you don't like San Angel! I happen to think Texas has the BEST Mexican food on the planet and San Angel does not taste like anything I have had in the Lone Star State! Since virtually every bite of food you put in your mouth at WDW is way higher priced than what you might find at home, San Angel is about par for the course in that department.

Let me start off by saying this:
I live in California and am a Disneyland annual passholder, so eating next to the water attraction is not a new thing for me. I may be jaded by the superior food and service of Disneyland's blue bayou. Also, living in southern california means that even our "run of the mill" mexican food is better than average.

San Angel is tasty, don't get me wrong. However the service is ALWAYS slow (even when I go in the January off season).

I do say the pork tacos are mmm-good, but just be prepared that the food isn't as phenominal as other locations, but if you're looking for ambience and a good time, it should suit you nicely.

Just a note on the soda thing. We were told by our waiter that it was a Mexican coke and that it tastes different(sweeter IMO) than American coke. My DF didn't like it and ended up getting something else, but I didn't mind it tasting different. I agree that the tables were too close and the service for us was not bad, but the worst of our Disney dining.

The tables are close together. Food is good, not great. And...it's our kids favorite restaurant. It's always our first nights dinner in Disney. It's a must for us. We are going in 12 days and our dinner ressies are made for San Angel Inn the day we get there!! We can't wait! :yay:
