Is there much difference in menu/quality in San Angel Inn and La Hacienda? I see La Hacienda de San Angel has organic chicken on the menu, is San Angel Inn not as high quality food?

I have eaten at both places and much prefer La Hacienda. I find there menu more appealing to my family.

Love the atmosphere at San Angel Inn. But the tables are too close together and we have never had a great meal there. Had several bad meals.
Much prefer La Hacienda de San Angel.

Maybe I a little strange but we love San Angel Inn. We have enjoyed many good meals there and the close tables just lend to the quantness of the resturants. I love the open market, nightime feel. As for La Hacienda we have been once. Hated it. On the bottom of our list.

oh no, really? Will have our 15 yo, and 19 yo sons. Looking for good food with decent selection and not too stuffy of a restaurant. Can I ask what you didn't like about La Hacienda? I may have to rethink our plans.

I think that BOTH of these restaurants squeeze way too many tables in a particular space. Unless you get a table on the water at San Angel Inn or a booth at Hacienda, you're crammed into tiny tables that are way too close to your neighbors.

I've had good experiences and good food at both. San Angel Inn made cheese quesadillas not on the menu for my daughter who didn't really see anything that she wanted.

I love San Angel, food and ambiance. But the food at hacienda is also good and if you get a window table when the Epcot fireworks show is on, it’s great.

That is a big if (looking up). Window tables are few and the rest of the place is well, underwhelming. The food and the atmosphere at La Hacienda was just about the same as our local average Mexican restaurant. Not bad but not as good as the price. On the other hand, there are only about 4 bad tables at San Angel Inn near the kitchen. The rest all offer a great view of the Mayan ruins. If you are lucky you may even get a table near the railing overlooking the river where the There Cabalero boat passes.

Remember, dining preference is very subjective. Opinions will vary greatly.

We have eaten at both numerous times. I give the slight edge to La Hacienda but mainly because we feel it is more comfortable, not as crowded, and better lighting. It is very dark in San Angel. However, we will typically go to San Angel over La Hacienda because San Angel accepts TIW discount while La Hacienda does not. This may not affect you though.

I believe a Mexican American friend if mine called it best he told me that San Angel Inn is what Americans think of as Mexican food and La Hacienda is more traditional Mexican food.

Eaten at both and prefer the food at La Hacienda. Check the menus for both places and see what appeals to you more. We found more options at La Hacienda that were closer to the Mexican restaurants we dine in at home. Also, both places will likely make you something that's not exactly on the menu such as cheese quesadilla or chicken tacos etc. so keep that in mind.

San Angel Inn has a cool atmosphere but the tables are all very, very close together. The other advantage of La Hacienda is that it has excellent viewing for Illuminations. We sat right in front of the big windows last time and had a perfect view. They also pipe in the music and turn down the lights while the show is going on. But, the tables by the windows are also quite close together so that's the trade off of sitting there.

Good margaritas at both places!

San Angel is a family favorite. We have eaten there many times and have always enjoyed our meals. We also love the atmosphere. It is very dark in there. Actually, one time we were seated across from Nascar driver Kurt Busch and his wife. We never noticed them until we were leaving, LOL.
We have eaten at La Hacienda twice and I do like the food very much. It's a pretty place but not special like San Angel.

DH and I love La Hacienda especially the Del Mar for two. I always ask for a booth when we check in and have always been seated at one. This sure gives you more room to enjoy your meal.

We have tried San Angel Inn twice. Both times service was absolutely terrible (2+ hours to get through the meal) and the food was so-so. We will not return. La Hacienda has always been a great experience for us.

I love La Hacienda. We haven't eaten at San Angel Inn for a while and there's been a few menu changes since then, so I can't really comment one way or the other. We used to enjoy it.

Totally agree. This is a classic Epcot restaurant for us. The view of Gran Fiesta while dining, the dime lighting, tight tables, all part of a beautiful dining experience. We love the food and ability to share apps and entrees. Never had a bad experience there.

Helpful! Thank you

I would vote La Hacienda for the food, and San Angel Inn for the atmosphere.
