WE have an adr for our upcoming trip at San Angel Inn. We went there on our last trip and enjoyed the atmosphere but I remember the food being just ok. I am thinking of changing our ADR to Chefs de france
If anyone has been to both please give me your suggestions.
Thanks :confused3

I wasn't a huge fan of the food at San Angel Inn, but I've heard great things about the Chefs de France.

This is a no brainer for me, I'd definitely go with Chefs!

The food and service at San Angel are always average to poor, while being jammed in shoulder to shoulder with other guests. The margaritas in particular are just nasty.

However, Chefs has always been one of our favorites and we've probably been over 10 times in two and a half years. One of my favorites is the goat cheese salad: roasted peppers and mixed baby greens topped with slices of raisin bread baguette with broiled goat cheese on top. Yum!

we used to love San Angel but our last couple meals there were more chain mexican than anything so we haven't gone for awhile( can do that at home for lots les$$$). if you liked your meal, I personally love the atmosphere there although it is a little crammed. Chefs we didn't eat there our last trip either but we have always thought the food was good, sometimes the servers have been slightly crabby and while nice not as nice atmosphere imo as Mexico ( just can't compete with eating out under the Sky ;) ) however for me the food wins so unless i hear SA has gone back to more authentic( anxiously waiting for that day), i'd pick Chefs

its kind of on both ends of the spectrum! I'd go with Chef's and if you still have a hankerin' for mexican try Cantina San Angel for a walk up...:)

Chefs de France for sure. DH is not a big fan of Mexican, so San Angel is at a disadvantage with us to begin with :)

Chefs.

While I LOVE the interior of San Angel, we found the food to just be mediocre, as well as the service. DH is hispanic and loves mexican food, but now we just have him grab something at the cantina outside and sit on the water.

Chefs was beautiful inside (although completely opposite from the theme of San Angel.) We had great service, and the food was very good. There were some things we didnt care for (certain cheeses on the cheese plate, etc) but I know that was becuase our palate was not accustom to those flavors. The bread was awesome.

HTH.

You are correct, the atmosphere is great, the food is not. Chefs de France has never disappointed us.

I like both..we had a really good flatbread appetizer at Chefs De France

We've been to both, and we would definitely choose Chefs de France. :)

For us this is a no brainer: Chefs de France every time. Good food. Good service. We've also enjoyed the "French menu" luncheon special.
