San Angel Inn- Mexico??

It was the surprise of our last trip. I almost cancelled our ADR several times because of the bad reviews here. But DH and DS wanted to go, so we kept it.
We all enjoyed our first evening. The atmosphere is great, the food was good, and the service was perfect, attentive but not hovering. We will definitely go back again.
By the way, if you are going in April you need to call ASAP for any TS ADR's that you want. That is a busy time of year and things book up.

We had an experience like yours. Due to bad reviews we have not tried it, but during our last trip we decided to try b/c we would be with some of our mexican friends, so we did it and what a wonderful experience! The boat trip was great and the food and service was perfect, I know it is some dark, but very romantic!!

Just returned from an eight day trip over New Year's. I think we all agreed that it was our worst meal of the trip. (We ate at Spoodles, 1900 Park Faire, 50's Prime Time Cafe, Rose and Crown, and Red Lobster at Crossroads)I have eaten there before, and thought it was just okay. We really like the atmosphere, and we wanted to take our daughter's friend there who was on her first trip to the world.....didn't hate it, but not too anxious to go back again.

I have to laugh everytime i read a San Angel thread and people start mentioning Taco Bell. Taco Bell is crap - comparing Taco Bell to any kind of mexican food is ridiculous.
I think the food at the San Angel is pretty good, but I have a really good Mexican restaurant in my town that serves the same kind of food (if you say it's Mexico City style, I'll take your word for it). I will agree that the restaurant has always had other problems; its overcrowded and the service is usually slow. But I like the atmosphere and the food, so I try to go there and I suggest it to others.
