I love dinners there but had a bad experience there for lunch in May. Just may have been the luck of the draw........

We had lunch there at the beginning of May and I thought it was great. We didn't have an ADR but they were able to take us anyway (though I thought it was funny because it was 80% empty Food is more authentically Mexican - chips are great. I'm pretty picky but I was able to find a steak taco that was delicious and extremely filling (along with the chips).

Lunch at San Angel Inn was one of our best meals on our last trip!!! Everything was delicious and the fantastic night time atmosphere can't be beat on a hot sunny Florida afternoon!!!

We used to LOVE IT - However, and while it wasn't lunch - we had our WORST meal EVER there the middle of May - not only has the menu been completely changed since the last time we ate there (2 years ago) DS got the tacos and inside one was a whole hot pepper - he bit right into it........... it was SO hot, he was crying and in such pain - it was horrible. NO - no one even said sorry or anything - not that we were looking for anything else, but a sorry should have been the least they did.......... not only that, my food was horrible, bland and runny don't make for good mexican food!!!
We won't be going back.

Oh, we LOVE San Angel Inn for lunch! It is requested by my DH for every Disney trip. The atmosphere is very festive, inviting, and it feels like you're eating at sunset. It's so cool inside. One time we scored a table by the river with a fantastic view of the erupting volcano.

The food is more Mexico City as others have said. We actually love it, the sauces are so delicious...green tomatillo sauce, sour cream sauce and an enchilda sauce my DH loved. Desserts there were yummy as well, we had the white chocolate bread pudding thingy. My kids loved the vanilla ice cream with churros in them too. It's a must do for us!

How is this place for lunch?

No better than it is for dinner. Sorry, this place is off our list (for any meal) until Disney does some major improvements to the food and service.

With an average rating of 5.6 here on the DIS you may want to reconsider.

We ate there back in 08 and none of use liked it, it was just very bland, didnt have any flavor to us and living in Mexico for a bit it wasnt like any mexican food I had seen, or my dh who is from Mexico, but maybe they take from a different regions style.

Wonderful! We love the food and the atmosphere. Lunch at San Angel Inn is a must-do for us anytime we visit EPCOT.
