Instead of booking a reservation for a big meal at Epcot, if you were to just sample your way through all of the countries, what would be on your list of not to miss foods?

Although neither qualifies as healthy, or even "mealtime" foods, loved the school bread in Norway bakery and the grey goose slushy in France :goodvibes

We ate at Tangeriene (sp?) CS and it was okay.

France-Cafe au Lait
France-Pain au Chocolat
Norway-School Bread
Italy-Italian Margarita made w/ Limoncella and Grappa (Yum)
Japan-Any of the counter lunch specials are really good and large
Morrocco-Shwarma Beef Platter for lunch (Huge, easy to share)
Mexico-Churro's
Mexico-Margarita
France-Grand Marnier Slushie

anyway, I could go on and on!

The Gran Marnier slushie in France is good as are the pastries
Italy has canollis and strawberries with Gharedelli dipping chocolate
Morocco has fantastic baklava
Germany has the beer and brats with sauer kraut
Mexico has the nachos
England has the fish and chips at the counter service
I haven't tried the school bread in Norway, but people say it's good
China has the counter service where you can get things to share like the dumplings and egg rolls.
The wine in Italy and Germany were good.

Haha, funny you ask. My bf likes schwarma. I told him we could get a plate of it in Morocco. If I like it, we can split it. If not, he can have it and I'd go to get a Brat in Germany ;) I might do it anyway!!!

Japan also has the Kaki Gori to add to webstah's list. (which is a great list, btw)

Ok, I know this might look like a lot of food in a short period of time, but if you spread yourself out from the time WS opens around 11 through the end of the night, it can be done:

Canada - the maple-filled waffle cookies. it's suggested to place them on top of a cup of coffee to warm up the maple some, but as most coffee fans know, it's not easy to find a cup of coffee worthy of such a good cookie.

England - Pint of Guiness while watching British Invasion

France - Crepes from the cart or chocolate moose from Paticierie (sp?)

Germany - Pretzle

Norway - Schoolbread

China - Egg rolls from Lotus Blossom Cafe

Japan - the shaved ice treat...blanking on name

Morocco - Baklava

USA - funnel cake (I think I've seen them there, haven't I?)

Mexico - Curro or nachos

If your tasting trip is during F&W, all bets are off. Too much fun stuff to choose from then! Hope this helps a bit

France - Napoleons!!! And DH will probably say (dark) Chocolate mousse

Japan - Ginger Cake! With a side of teriyaki chicken if you must

China - Honey chicken

Mexico - I'll only eat the churros there

Norway - school bread is pretty yummy but I love me some coconut

America - what's the point

Morocco - Sultan's Colada

We usually don't do the sweet stuff so much, instead of dinner we taste around the world and share. There are 4 of us.

We always start with :

Mexico : Combo Platter 8.75

Japan: on hot nights, Kaki Gori (water ice)

China: Potstickers or an eggroll 4.99/ 3.99

Germany: Bratwurst 6.69

France: Chocolate mousse 3.35

UK: Shortbread 1.69 and DH gets a beer or fish and chips 7.99

Norway: Something sweet and yummy 3.50 ish

Morrocco: Mediterranean Wraps w/ chicken 9.95

and maybe an espresso in Italy. And my favorite burgers in all of WDW is at the American Adventure, but we're usually too full to get to it. And my DD sure misses the beaver tails in Canada!

In Canada we stop for popcorn and moosehead at the cart. We go into the store for the maple sugar candies and the maple cream filled cookies.

UK...we stop in the pub, grab a drink, look at the chalk board, they usually have a cheese platter you can order in the pub to go with the drinks.

Morocco...anything in the cafe has always been fabulous. Love the pistacio baklava and great coffee.

Japan...The quick serve restaurant, yakatori, has fantastic rice/meat bowls...but doesn't serve Yakatori, lol, what the name of the restaurant actually means
US...funnel cake and sam adams is about as good as it gets until Disney wises up some.

Italy...Limoncello or Rosa Regale at the wine bar.

Germany...go and get a brat with sauerkraut and a beer. If they have put the Kleiner fig infused vodka back outside get some of that. The managers there had decided to discontinue it outside for some reason (not smart..this stuff is fantastic).

China...potstickers in the quick serve...grab a cocktail from the cart

Norway...We haven't been in for a long time, since the discontinued the ring cakes. You can grab a Kringla. They also don't have the correct beer there.

Mexico...grab a burrito at the quick serve and a margharita at the stand...I like the lime best, reminds me of mazatlan. Let it melt a bit before drinking.

France...we just go for the grand marnier slushies.

Have a great time!

Both Norway and France have bakeries with pastries, bread, and sandwich / cheese plate / quiche (there's a MUCH bigger assortment in France) that offer so many possibilities. The kaki-gori (flavored shaved ice) in front of Japan is a tradition for us.

Morocco: lamb or chicken shawarma; baklava
France: chocolate mousse
Mexico: churro
Germany: pretzel
Norway: schoolbread

We had all of the above and they were great! Here are some I would like to try on our next trip:

France: croissant
Mexico: tacos; guacamole
Norway: sweet pretzel (though it would be hard to pass up that schoolbread...fortunately we will be at Epcot for 2 or 3 days so I can try both!)

Norway - We always get the Kringla, with almonds, and sometimes get extra for breakfast the next day

England - I get Woodpecker Cider, while my DH gets a pint of something...

Germany - DH gets the high gravity from the cart

France - will now have to get the Grand Marnier slushie... can't believe I've been so many times and didn't know about this!!!!

Hmmmm, most of this is not "food".... But that is the great thing about WS!

:drinking1 :rotfl:

Dh and I do that sometimes but since we have fallen madly in love with Tangierine Cafe we just eat there.

Some favs are the shrimp fried rice and egg rolls from China, the battered fish from England, the chicken schawarma platter and falafel wrap from Morrocco.

Now if you were talking about drinking your way around Epcot that I can totally help you with :rotfl:

This is how we eat at EPCOT!! We may get one entree from several places and snacks at others.

We almost always do the following:
UK- fish and chips entree
France - strawberry tarts and chocolate croissant
Morocco - Schwarma platter
Germany - DH gets a beer
Japan - Yakitori chicken entree
China - egg rolls
Mexico - kids meal and churro

I can't wait until this summer!

Maggie

This is what my DH and I are doing for our "date" night next Thursday. We plan on "eating around the world".
What I think we're going to do so far is:
Start in Canada
UK: Fish & chips
France: pastries & booze slushies (last year he had the Grey Goose, this year he wants to try the Grand Marnier).
Do the Kim Possible adventure and see if there's snacks around we don't want to miss
Japan: California Roll and possibly dumplings
Pick a pearl for a present for my mom, hit the Japanese store HARD for Bento boxes and accessories (my other obessions besides Disney and horses).
Norway: Try the School Bread, I've never had it.
Mexico: possibly try Churros

I'd love to also find a cheese plate somewhere, possibly UK or France

Instead of booking a reservation for a big meal at Epcot, if you were to just sample your way through all of the countries...

My family did this on our first trip for lunch. We were a group of four, 2 adults and 2 kids. We got a CS in England (fish and Chips), Morrocco (a chicken pita sandwich, and Germany (brats) and split them. We also bought some pastries in france OOP.

It was an excellent way to experience a little each country had to offer and we plan on doing it again this year.

America - what's the point
:lmao: I know, right!

These lists are wonderful and inspiring. I have always wanted to visit each country and sample one thing from each.

We are snackers, but ds (9) and I have never made it all the way around in one day. I think he's just not old enough yet. He would prefer a souvenir around the world tour. -a toy or book from every country! :rotfl2:

this is a great post...we are planning one TS in Epcot otherwise I was looking forward to roaming around and snacking. My list keeps getting longer and longer lol.

DH & I have fallen in love with the chocolate/candy shop in Germany. We get fudge and I love the marshmallow/caramel chocolate squares. We'll typically buy a few of them for our trip and keep them in our room for late night munchies or breakfast.
