Same room type same resort question

I've got a split stay coming up and am trying to figure out the best way to do the dining plan.

1st night - BCV
2nd night - VGF
3-6th night - VGF

I booked the 2nd night VGF separate from the other nights in an attempt to try and get two nights at BCV -- but the wait list never came through. I know I could call and get the VGF ressies linked together; however, with the way our ADRs line up, it would actually be beneficial to get the DDP+ on the 2nd night (we have fantasmic lunch, Yak&Yeti, Citricos booked for our 2nd and 3rd days).

So if we merge the ressies, then I'll just do regular DDP for 1st night to get fantasmic lunch included.
If we don't merge, then I might do DDP for 1st night and DDP+ for 2nd night (we also have tusker house breakfast in there as well).

My question is if I don't link the reservation, will I have to physically check-out of the room? Or will I just have to go to the front desk and go through the motions of checking out/in?

You can ask that a "continuing reservation" notice be placed on both the VGF reservations without combining the reservations.
You will still have to go through the motions of checkout/check in but the continuing reservation will inform the CM that does the room assignments know that you want to stay in the same room.

Thanks! My wife will kill me if we have to check out two days in a row. I'll give MS a call and let them know to make note of the situation.

Follow up question.

Has anyone tried adding the dining plan to one of the reservations and then linking the ressies together? Will the system cancel the DDP or is this a work-around for getting the DDP for an entire stay?

FYI - People have reported that without MS contact their reservations were combined without their permission.

I've seen those reports -- my reservations have not been combined as of today. And since they were made 3 months ago and the trip is in 3 days, I'm assuming they won't be automatically combined at this point.

It's not automatic, it's when MS or the resort notices the reservations.

so quick update -- I called MS today and had them make a note that I am doing a "continuing" reservation. I also confirmed that I will have to go to the front desk to go through the motions of checking out and then in again. I was told it was not 100% guaranteed not to switch rooms, but highly likely (like over 90% likely).

This is all going down this coming Sun/Mo so I'll update the thread to let everyone know how it turns out.

On a side note -- I did ask what would happen if I made the DDP+ while it was still two ressies, and then call the next day to merge them together as one, and was told that they'd either cancel the DDP+ with a refund OR make me get DDP+ for entire stay...which is what I thought would happen. So for future reference, that would not be a valid work around.

It's unlikely you'd need to change villas but you still shouldn't be surprised if they combine them later if they are the same booking category, names and contract.
