Would this option work for us? We found an April use year resale and another with a December use year. If we wanted to book our home resort with these points can it be done at 11 months for when we wanted to stay there?

Your UY does not matter for when you can book. The dates of your stay is just determine what year the points can come from. So depending on when you want to go, for example if it were May of 2016 then from the Dec UY you could use banked 2014 points, current 2015 points and borrow 2016 points but the April UY could use banked 2015 points, current 2016 points and borrowed 2017 points. But you could have booked the stay for the May 2016 trip in June of 2015 no matter which UY you were using. If this all makes sense then you might be ok with the two UY's. I would not likely recommend it though if it's just a matter of doing so to get a certain amount of points.

But if neither of the contracts have enough points I'd recommend you consider waiting until a contract comes along that is larger enough or to buy one of these and wait for another contract with the same UY before buying another.

You'll have to book two different reservations, or you'll have to transfer points from one account to the other and call in to book your reservation. You may end up with some stranded points since they won't work seamlessly together. Different use years work best when you'll use each one for a completely different trip every year. It's just going to cause confusion and headaches. Wait for one that matches your current use year.

You can book a trip for May of 2016 in June of 2015 no matter the UY you are using.
I have two UYs at OKW, Feb & Jun. I just keep track of all my points usages on an Excel spreadsheet that I understand and works for me. There are other threads here on the DISBoards that discuss this in more detail and most on that thread have more detail than I care to maintain.

2 different UYs means you are not buying an "add on" - rather you are buying 2 separate memberships with all the complications that go with that.

If you're very organized, you can make it work but it's probably not a good idea for most people.

A www, but isn't calling in June 2017 to book May 2016 better?! :rotfl2: Must have been a Dr Who moment.

We have two use years and both have points from BWV. Not a major issue. It is like being two different owners. When we do reserve using both, we make two different but sequential reservations for the same room category and then have them linked by MS. You get separate annual bills for dues; if you have automatic withdrawal fom checking account for dues, it is two separate withdrawals; and you have different banking dates. Your online account is combined for both unless you deed them differently (deeds need to have same owners' names to be combined for the online site). One advantage is avoidance of cancellation risk. You can use one use year's points to reserve time near end of the other use year and thus if you have to cancel, you can still bank.
