Same resort, back-to-back reservations in different categories, will they let me stay?

So, I am in a bit of a pickle. I have two nights booked at the poly in a standard room but I need to add a night onto the front of my reservation. However, only a theme park view is available, not a standard view. I have been checking nonstop for two weeks, hoping something would open up. Also, there is no availability to upgrade the entire stay to a theme park view or to switch to the DVC side. Moving our entire reservation from the Poly is really not an option, as we are set on staying there.

Do you think there is any chance if I have two different categories booked that they won't make me change rooms? I had luck with this before at the Yacht Club on two different reservations but they were the same category. Changing rooms is not ideal as the day of changeover is when we are going to Boo Bash and getting an afternoon nap in for my daughter will be key. If the new room is not ready to move into at a reasonable hour, that is REALLY going to throw things off for Boo Bash.

I totally understand why Disney would not grant this request but I am curious if anyone has ever experienced some pixie dust with this type of request. Thanks for sharing!

It doesn't hurt to ask. If you're ok staying in a standard room, then they could possibly upgrade someone else.

Not likely but maybe They might down grade you to a standard on check in if you ask nicely

This. I honestly do NOT see them allowing you to stay in the TPV room for the nights you didn't book it. The only possibility I can see is if there is someone else with only a one night stay they could upgrade and put you in their Standard View.

I think it’s possible. Be sure you have both reservations linked as continuing stay. Since you have a short stay you have more chance of being able to stay in same room. As you’ve found, TPV is available but no standard. The ”cheaper” rooms are in higher demand. I‘d also remind them at check in that it’s a continuing stay, That you’ll be there 3 nights.
Your first nigh I’d go to the front desk later, like past 9:00 and just ask what longhouse you’ll be in the next day. They may say you are staying in current room. Honestly for a short stay I think they’d rather keep you in the same room if it’s possible rather than have to do a turnover clean.

I had a split stay one year at POR. We had the Royal Room for one week, then a regular room booked for one week. I went the night before to ask where my new room would be, and was told they were keeping me in the Royal room.
saves you time to know if you need to pack up and be ready to move or not.
I never asked to stay. But they did.
