Same Day Discounts?

We will be going to WDW in less than 2 weeks and some family members have decided they may like to go, too. We would all be driving. Looks like there is plenty of room availability at numerous Disney resorts and no discounts being offered. If they walked in without a reservation, is there any chance they could negotiate a discount?

Also, same question / concept for us. We are currently booked at a value, any chance if I walked into a mod or deluxe upon arrival and tried to switch that I'd be given a discount? Would they even honor my original discount ? Just not sure where family wants to stay yet and if we want to stay where they are. I know I should be able to call and make the change and keep my current discount, but wondered if I might get a better deal on arrival day. Anyway, I don't know if they'll book before they leave or if they're just gonna wing it!

I don't know why I just don't feel "committed" to any aspect of our trip this year. I have a few dining reservations that I don't know if I really want, not sure which hotel I really want to stay at, haven't even decided which parks we're doing (considering many combinations of Disney, water parks, SeaWorld, U/IoA). Geesh! Now the addition of family members is making me even more confused!! Of course, no one else in my household cares one way or the other. So, it's all on me!

I would not count on that happening.
Anyone walking in could pay rack rate if there is availability. But I would not count on even that personally.
And you would only be able to get room only even at that.
I even wonder if they would just instruct you to use the house phone to call in to book a res. :confused3
But it will be interesting to read of other's actual experiences with this.

A couple years ago we were staying at POFQ. We decided we wanted to stay an extra night. When we went to the front desk, we were quoted rack rates to add that additional night even though the hotel wasn't particularly full. We ended up staying off-site for that last, extra night.

I would suspect they would not offer a last-minute deal.

Discounted rooms are subject to availability. When your headcount firms up, I'd call and make my reservations. I wouldn't just walk-in and try to get a room.

You will pay rack rate. Last year we arrived a day early with an AP rate. There was a room availablefor me to check in a day early and even stay in the same room but I would pay rack rate for the 1st night. The CM suggested that I call reservations and see if I could add the day over the phone, which I did. WHen the night was added, I got the AP rate.

Showing up at the door, only gets you rack rate, no discounts.

Wow! I could've written that last paragraph myself!! That's exactly how I'm feeling about our trip, and we're leaving in 2 days!!! We won't actually get to Disney until the 20th, but still...I am not prepared at all. Still have to call and add tickets and dining. It just seems like we're spending so much money this year.... I was planning on staying at POR, but my husband and kids freaked out and said they wanted BC. So...at $400 a night, that's where we'll be!
I'm praying that once we get to Florida, I'll be able to relax a bit and enjoy myself. I'm 7 months preggo, so I'd really like some "down time". Haha! Like that's gonna happen at Disney!!!
