THE WEDDING DAY
Well before I knew it – our Wedding Day was here.

Here is the invitation that I made and sent out to our guests:

<img width=300 src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/Fantasia__Sam/Wedding_Details/d9c18680.jpg"> <img width=300 src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/Fantasia__Sam/Wedding_Details/2f78c1e4.jpg">

Paul and I had decided to share a room the night before the wedding because I thought I may find it hard to sleep without him and to be honest we didn’t see the need to not see each other that morning. Mickey called us at 5:45 this was to give us enough time to shower and hairwash before 7.00 as that’s when the troops were arriving.

The first thing that Paul did that morning was to get out of bed and go to the safe to get the rings out before he forgot. I was still lying in bed LOL I remember feeling like I wasn’t in any particular hurry and the bed felt really comfortable. Paul then came over to my side of the bed and presented me with a most beautiful pair of diamond earrings – I was completely taken aback. I had no idea at all that Paul would shower me with such a gift and I was almost speechless. I know this sounds really awful but the other thing that was going through my mind was that I already had my jewelry for the wedding day but the fact that Paul had presented them to me so early made me think that he wanted me to wear the earrings. Paul picked up on this and said “it’s OK I know you have your jewelry already picked out for today” ….. hmmm I felt happy and sad at the same time as I really wanted to wear them but I didn’t have a necklace to go with them, I felt bad that I was even thinking this.

Anyway we got out of bed and Paul opened the curtains and called me to the window – the sun had just risen and out over and above the Boardwalk were some early morning hot air balloons – this was a great site to see – we both just stood out on the balcony watching them in the sky.

<img width=450 src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v126/SamByrne/ABC/288b7357.jpg">

Then it was time to shower and get ready. I wasn’t in the mood for breakfast so we decided that we’d both get something a little later when we were with our respective attendants. Bang on 7.00 there was a knock at the door and both Serena and Lily and Carolyn were there altogether. So we promptly kicked Paul out. Paul and the Groomsmen were going to get ready in one of the rooms at the Convention Center so Paul was gonna take his stuff to the room and then go and wait for the families to arrive and bring the girls up to the 5th (they needed key cards to get up to the Concierge Floor). Once Paul was out of the way I started helping Serena and Lily to clear space – the day bed was already full of boxes and stuff for they day but we managed to find enough room and get the room ready. Carolyn just started getting on with the dress steaming she was out of there by 8.30.

Not long after that Ariane turned up at the room – she’s only 11 and really really loves her bed so I was surprised to see her so early and quite bright and breezy, I hasten to add she stayed in bed the day after the wedding until noon! Next my Sister in Law, Liane, arrived I wanted her to feel a part of the wedding party as David and the boys were all getting suited up, so I had asked her to come get ready in my room and that I’d treat her to her hair and make-up. Finally my Maid of Honour, Mandy and her girlfriend Vicky showed. Serena was already starting with my hair so Lili got on with Ariane’s make-up straight off. Once my curlers were in I think we put Ariane in the hair chair and Lili started on Liane’s make-up. I rang for room service for juice coffee and pastries. I asked Vicky if she wouldn’t mind sticking the labels on the cake boxes so that they were ready and that also gave her something to do whilst we were all getting made-up. Room service arrived but there wasn’t enough pastries so to keep us busy Mandy and I walked down the corridor to Concierge – me with my curlers in and PJ’s on – LOL I had no shame. So we walk into the Concierge Lounge and who do we bump into THE MEN !!!!!!!! Paul had “chatted up” the ladies on the desk at the Concierge and they told him to bring all the men up to the Lounge for coffee and pastries – I hadn’t realized what a smooth talker Paul could be. I didn’t mind seeing Paul as neither of us were in our gear I just found it really funny especially with me in my curlers - we said hi but sort of snubbed them all the same. Mandy and I grabbed the food we needed and then left.

Back in the bedroom I realized just in the nick of time that I’d forgotten to tell the girls to wear button down shirts so suddenly had to pass out stuff for the girlies to wear and of course they’re all about half the size of me – well Ariane definitely is, so she got to wear my PJ top which was the smallest thing I had. I think I was now in the chair for Lili to make me up. The phone rang Vicky took it and it seemed it was Paul asking what to do as one of the trousers hadn’t been changed by Carolyn as agreed I remained calm and told Vicky the number for Paul to call. Then I called my EM and asked him to make sure everything was sorted, he called me back to say everything was under control and Carolyn would be back in 10 mins with the correct trousers. I was a little “edgy” by now and found it so so hard to keep still for eyeliner and mascara, I was soooo fidgety. This of course would be the moment that Randy chose to come into the room – we weren’t that ready for him so he said he’d come back but not before getting a few of those curler shots !

Emily showed up at the room with the bouquets this was the first time I had seen them and I just could not believe how well a match she had made with the dresses and I loved the shells too – she did an awesome job and I couldn’t wait to see how the rest of the floral turned out.

Then it was time for my hair to be finished off I was still edgy so Mandy fixed me a Vodka and orange juice from the mini-bar, you know to just relax me – it worked a treat. Serena finished me off whilst Lili finished started to clear her make-up away – Disney Cosmo were having their normal hectic morning so once she had stored all her MAC away she left us.

Randy came back to the room hoping for shots but to be honest we still weren’t really ready so I told him it didn’t matter and that he should just take what he wanted and leave he’d get plenty of me later anyway. So with a couple of obligatory mirror shots under his belt he was off.

After big hugs between Serena and I it was time to bid her farewell I had made Wedding Day tip envelopes for all those that we wanted to thank on our day.

<img width=450 src="http://img41.photobucket.com/albums/v126/SamByrne/ABC/Tip_Envelopea.jpg">

OK so now it was time to get into the dress – for some reason I wasn’t able to step into it, and I knew I had stepped into it at the final fitting – I just couldn’t get it right so they had to bring it over my head LOL it wasn’t a big deal and I had plenty of spray on my hair so I wasn’t too concerned. Next came the jewelry and this is where I thought to myself “to hell with matching jewelry” and swapped my wedding earrings for the earrings that Paul had given me that morning. We were then all ready and we took some shots with my camera - this is one of my favs from the room.

<img width=450 src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v126/SamByrne/ABC/c4c12da4.jpg">

I then called our EM and let him know that we were ready whenever he was – he said he’d call to let me know when it was safe to come down to the lobby. We didn’t have to wait long…..

I guess it must have been way past 10am when we got the call that Randy was now ready for us and the boys were firmly ensconced in the Crew’s Cup so I could come on down. It was then that I asked him if there were wedding guests in the lobby he told me there were and asked if I wanted them out? Now originally I had said all along that I wasn’t bothered about people seeing me before the wedding but I decided here at this last minute that I would prefer that no-one saw me. LOL I think I could actually hear him roll his eyes but he was great about it.

We got my Brides Bag together with everything in it, phones, camera, necessities and at the last minute I tied a pink ribbon around Eeyore’s neck (he comes on vacation with us whenever we are away from home) and placed him in the bag. The bag was then given to Vicky to look after.

So I left room 536 as a singleton knowing I would return there later with my hubby, that didn’t make me nervous at all ;)

We walked along the corridor which seemed to go on for miles but we weren’t that far away from the concierge desks – it was a wonderful feeling getting to the desks, the ladies were so happy and excited to see me but I was just so nervous I’m pretty sure I seemed aloof. We got in the lift and headed on downstairs – as we exited the lifts I saw Rev Jack and we hugged each other. I could see some guests walking past me and scuttling out of the lobby I just decided to pretend I couldn’t see them and FOCUS. I then noticed that Ariane’s tie on the back of her dress wasn’t done up properly so I took charge of that and busied myself with dressing her properly until Tracy came over and took me to Randy.

Randy was all set ready for lobby staircase shots. I had put together a must shoot list but in the end I decided not to use it as I didn’t want to be stressing about what photos Randy had and had not taken therefore if I hadn’t give him a list I couldn’t get stressed, how nutty is that thought process ?

We took some obligatory stair shots of just myself and then with the girls – he took some shots of me sitting down but I have to say those piccies came out really bad in terms of very very heaving cleavage and they just looked awful – those are the only shots I decided not to upload. We then walked down by the Yacht Club Galley restaurant as there are some nice full length windows and it was quiet so more piccies were taken there. Then it was time for us to go outside, Randy took us out to the walkway between the YC and the Convention Center – it was a really nice and quiet area. Tracy in the meantime had gone to get my brother. Randy had lots of fun taking what seemed to be an endless amount of photos and we were really pleased with how they all came out. A few more pictures here and then we went back through the lobby to get some shots out front. Emily came to meet us here to check that everything was OK with the bouquets and she also took some more pictures here. You can view our page on her website here :

Oh I also forgot you may remember that my girlfriend Rachael had pins made for us – well I gave one of these to Tracy when he came to our room earlier that morning to pick up the cake boxes and other last minute things and he went to put it on – I told him that he’d get in trouble for doing that as it wasn’t a Disney pin and he was so sweet and said he didn’t care – see Disney do make allowances for you on your wedding day. I even made him take one for Tanis his assistant.

<img width=150 src="http://img41.photobucket.com/albums/v126/SamByrne/ABC/29e1f0e3.jpg">

So we were outside the YC round the corner from the Gazebo and facing the lighthouse, sadly there was some construction going on but I had decided to just accept this but I said to Tracy jokingly will we able to hear them at work round at the Gazebo and he told me that they had been told that they all had to down tools between 11 and 11.30 OMG how cool was that – I was really surprised, again another nice Disney touch. So whilst we were outside the men except my brother were being walked around to a door that led out on to the Gazebo and then Tracy told me it was time to take us round to the other doorway.

As we walked through the Lobby Stan, our videographer, came up to see me – I don’t think I had seen him all morning, at least I don’t remember seeing him, he asks me if I want to say anything to Paul and I’m like nope I don’t think so because I really hadn’t rehearsed anything to say and had completely forgotten that he may ask me. He told me that Paul had given a message, which meant that I really should leave one – so we stopped and Stan and I left the group to a quiet place where I said a message to my future husband in which of course I practically broke down big time – so then Tracy had to go to the shop and get me some tissues because I had given my bag to Vicky who was now sitting with the other guests. My brother then asked for some too just in case he needed them. All I could think about was how David and I were gonna be crying our way up the aisle so I quickly pulled myself together and we carried on through the corridors.

I just loved the way that Tracy kept talking into his radio mike and giving instructions – I was imagining to myself things like “the Bride is in position let’s move it! move it!! move it!! We were then told that everything was in place so we went outside the door and we were standing on the steps – this picture was taken by one of the UK DIS members who happened to be walking by just before hand and remembered that today was my wedding so stuck around to take a few sneaky pictures. I’m so glad he did, thanks again Paul.

Standing here we could see everything as it happened. I couldn’t get over the amount of Disney staff that seemed to be working on our wedding, wow I really felt so important. We could hear all the music as we had decided on a sound system (this was so worth the money). It was then time for the Bridal party to make their way to the Gazebo. Everyone apart from myself, my brother and the BM’s were coming out of the side door. The procession started :

Our two eldest nephews Cameron and Bug came out first it was supposed to be to “Two Worlds” (Tarzan) but there was a mix up anyway they lit the Unity Candle – I say lit it was really really windy but Stan had promised to lay some magic on that in the video.

<img width=450 src="http://img41.photobucket.com/albums/v126/SamByrne/ABC/ceremony3a.jpg">

<img width=450 src="http://img41.photobucket.com/albums/v126/SamByrne/ABC/unity3a.jpg">

Next my SIL, Liane, was walked down the aisle by her youngest son, Ashley to the Two Worlds music this was correct.

Then the pianist struck up “I’ll Make a Man out of You” (Mulan). Originally I was gonna have “One Day My Prince will Come” but it just didn’t sit right with me for the tone of the whole ceremony and the rest of the music we had chosen so after a previously long conversation with Tracy I put to him that I fancied the Mulan song and luckily he thought that would be perfect and so we went with that. Rev Jack came out first, followed by Paul and then Stephen, Paul’s brother and Best Man.

We could see all of this from the bottom and David and I were both getting really really nervous. Tracy then sent Mandy out to the beginning of the path and as she started to walk “Part of your World” started to play, Ariane followed her. Everything was running so perfectly and smoothly. Then Tracy looked at us and said OK you’re on ::GULP:: I don’t know who was more nervous David or I LOL actually I think David was. So I reminded him that we had to walk slowly, famous last words, and “If I Never Knew You” (from Pocahontas) struck up so we took our walk. David asked me to talk about anything through his teeth so that he could hold it together. So walking up the aisle towards my intended, my brother and I had a conversation about the fact that Cameron only had a pair of white socks and the rest of the men had to find a pair of black socks for him for the wedding !!! LOL that is a conversation I’m gonna remember for the rest of my life.

<img width=450 src="http://img41.photobucket.com/albums/v126/SamByrne/ABC/ceremony2a.jpg">

I can remember walking past our guests and even whispered to one of them and then before I knew it David had walked me to the Gazebo and to my lovely Paul.

Rev Jack then started the ceremony – David gave me away, willingly and Paul and I held hands. The ceremony was civil and very much focused on love. My girlfriend Carol from CT came and gave a reading, I had started to look at her but then I thought I might cry or worse make Carol cry, so had to look away for most of the reading. Then Paul and I exchanged vows and this is where my future husband and Rev Jack decided to do a little double act on the whole “I promise to LISTEN”, sometimes men will be boys LOL. It was then time to light our Unity Candle and my girlfriend Sandra from Holland had very kindly agreed to sing “Promise” for us – I knew that she was very nervous but she has such a lovely voice and I think caused the most tears amongst the guests and family, I was so close at this point to just blubbing but again I took deep breaths and did that whole “blow out air towards my fringe/bangs” which in turn helped to dry any misty eyes I may have had. We were then proclaimed husband and wife yayyyy had some kisses and then were presented to our friends and family.

<img width=450 src="http://img41.photobucket.com/albums/v126/SamByrne/ABC/ceremony1a.jpg">

We walked back down the aisle to our recessional “Main Street Electric Parade” and then Paul and I were escorted to the side door by Tracy for some breath catching time. I couldn’t believe how well it had all gone – the music was wonderful and the pianist it turned out was the main pianist from the Tarzan show at Animal Kingdom, I was so impressed !
Tracy then came back to get us and we did our staged exit of rose petal throwing, most of which seemed to get down my cleavage much to the delight of the crowd.

Randy then took some great group shots before our friends were taken to Ariel’s next door at the Beach Club for the pre-reception cocktail hour. Paul and I had some shots taken with the Bridal party and family near the Gazebo, on the water front. Then the family were taken off to Ariel’s until finally it was just Paul, myself and Randy. He took some truly wonderful photos and it’s just gonna be so hard to choose for the album – the three of us had some giggles. Tracy came to check on us a couple of times and wanted to know if we wanted to join the pre-reception, we said we’d rather have this time on our own.

Thanks for posting such great wedding ideas! We're getting married in less than 3 months and have very similar ideas for our weddings. We're getting married at the wedding pavilion, and our reception is at Ariel's. Our photographer is Randy Chapman, and Rev Jack is the officiant. And our rehearsal is at Ohana's. It's crazy how many of the same vendors & locations we both used! Any tips or advice?

Congratulations to you both, What a wonderful wedding you had, Loved the report.

Hi Samantha and Paul,
Have to say this thread got my attention! I thought you were getting married all over again until I looked at the date. You know, my assistant, the school counselor, and I still talk about your lovely wedding and laugh about how we all teared up while watching the video here at school all those years ago. Hugs from Tulsa.
