Just wondering if any of you on here graduated, or know someone who graduated from Salve Regina University (RI) or Stonehill College (MA).

I have 2 weeks to make a decision between them for where I'm going next year, and it's pretty much 50-50 right now. Both colleges have a lot of positives.

Any information on post grad jobs?

Thanks!

Thanks!

Sorry neither but Stonehill is only about 15 minutes from my house! The campus is lovely.

I think it depends on your choice of major. Also, do you prefer a pastoral setting or more of a city setting? Both are good schools--congratulations of having such a tough decision to make!

lol Virgo10, i could have visited you today - I went up and took a second tour at Stonehill in the lovely pouring rain.

My brother and his wife are both Stonehill alumni, and my cousin is going there now. She went on to grad school, anad now had a PhD, and works for the Brockton school system. My brother went on to grad school, and now has his own business.
Stonehill has some great programs there, really no weaknesses, if I remeber correctly. I can't comment on Salve Regina, though.

I can't comment about Salve Regina, but as a Stonehill alum, I think you'd be very happy there. I have nothing but good things to say about it. Having grown up in Easton, MA I can tell you that there's not much exciting happening around town, but it's close enough to Boston, Providence and the Cape that you shouldn't run out of things to do.

The campus is really quite beautiful, especially with all the new buildings they have completed in the past couple of years. My vote is for Stonehill! :)

I CHECKED OUT BOTH SCHOOLS AND LOVED LOVED LOVED STONEHILL (DIDN'T GET IN THOUGH :(
I'M OVER IT, THAT WAS 10 YEARS AGO :p

Is one a drastically better financial deal than the other?

My DD just had almost the same decision you had, but between 3!
Salve-Rhode Island, Keene State-New Hampshire and Bay Path College in Massachusetts
But she signed on the dotted line last week with Bay Path, a great award letter really helped make that decision too! Bay Path also has:Cross-Registration
If there's a course you'd love to take…as a member of the Cooperating Colleges of Greater Springfield (CCGS), you may enroll in two courses each semester at any CCGS institution at no additional fee depending on course availability. there are 8 colleges in the area to choose from also!
So my DD wanted a very, very small school and will be taking 2 courses at Westfield State also.
We did a lot of tours of campuses, but never did Stonehill, sorry.
Best of luck to you...I know how hard that decision can be!
p.s. I loved Salve!;)

there's only a $5,000 difference...
at salve I got a $8,000 academic scholarship and honors program, which brings the total to $22,000 per year.
stonehill, i only got $4,000 academic, which is $27,000 per year.

i loved newport and salve, but i'm just afraid that salve doesn't have as good an academic reputation - i'm thinking about grad school or law school applications, as well as a career in politics or law at this time.

I have a friend that played basketball for Stonehill last year, let's just say he's back in Richmond this year!

Stephanie.. both are great schools...I love Salve.... right there in Newport.. woohoo.. Personally, I think Stonehill has a better academic standing.. JMO Two of my daughters went to Providence College and loved it there, the other went to Holy Cross and loved that as well..

Wherever you choose, I only hope you love that choice as much as my daughters loved theirs..

Hugs.

I'd vote for Stonehill also. That was one of my choices way back when. Also, my boyfriend in college went to Salve - I spent every weekend there in Newport throughout college. Newport is awesome! BUT, my old boyfriend did very bad in school and that was the only college he could get into. So, unless things have changed in the past 10+ years, it probably isn't the best school choice / academic reputation.

And, from what I remember, Salve was like 90% female! Not many boys around... :D
