We're (DS, DH and possibly one of my DS's friends, both are 10) stopping in Saint Augustine for one night on our way down to the WL. I need help on where to stay - preferrably on the beach. Looking for something very clean and nice!!

Thanks!!

Hi,
I usually stay in Saint Augustine Beach on my way driving to DisneyWorld from New Jersey. Saint Augustine Beach is right near historic Saint Augustine, but borders the ocean. Very nice area, and always felt safe there. The Saint Augustine Lighthouse is there, too. :) It is easy to get to historic Saint Augustine, just a short drive across the draw bridge. The hotel I always stay at is the Hilton Garden Inn, which is across the street from the ocean. it's a new, clean hotel. The rooms only have two double beds in them (or a King) - so it may or may not fit your needs. I never actually swam in the ocean there, but I walked along the beach. There are many other hotels on the same road (I think it's route A1A) - A Howard Johnsons and a Day's Inn are nearby. And Alligator Farm is very close by - a very cool place!

Well, hope this helped a tiny bit! :)

Thanks HugsForEeyore! I just looked that Hilton Garden Inn's site up. It looks like a nice place!

I don't know what your price range is but check out www.casamonica.com if you ask for Nancy in reservations you will get there best deal. We stayed there may 3-5th for our anniversary. We walked to all the shops on George st. and there is a ton to keep you busy and it's about 5 miles from the outlet stores. St. Augustine is a beatufil place but unless your going to go to the beaches for extended times the downtown area is where it's at. Try the Columbia House resterant on George st. it's spanish food price is right and it's very nice and relaxing. It's upscale but not dress up type thing. Also Harry's Resturant is a New Orleans sytle resturant we had the fondue shirmp and crawfish with crusty bread for lunch it was outta of this world. Watch out for Katherine (the ghost who hauntes the upstairs ladies room) the view from up stairs looks over the bridge of Lions. There are horse drawn carriages for family rides and inimate rides just a ton to see and do, but really it's all downtown. We had a deluxe room at the casa monica and had a blast it's truely classy. Have a great time
