Sailing with the Gang...DCL magic, Feb. 2016

Thoroughly enjoying the tour of Atlantis. Thank you for all the great pictures. Too bad you accidentally wandered out of the guarded area.

Love that smiling ray shot! Very cool.

And that open mouth eel is so creepy!

Love that shot of you on the bench. And don't we ALL wish we weighed what we did 13 years ago!

LOL on including Skip. That's probably as close to a cruise as he's going to get for a while. :p

I had NO idea that bridge between the buildings was a suite. And $25K? Who do they think they are, Disney? ;)

I enjoyed the illicit tour of the grounds. Thanks for risking committing some sort of international crime so we could get a better look. :)

So sad that you missed that sign :rolleyes1 :P

You got some great pics, I am glad you got to explore 8-)

I have seen pictures of it and it looks awesome, but at the speed they slide by, I wonder how much of the sharks you really see?

You are probably right!

That is one great shot, Jen!!

Thanks

I love how you all wandered around on forbidden paths - I am very thankful you documented that so well!

It was kind of exciting to sneak in!

I never get tired of seeing your photos, so please, whenever you're ready you may post more. ;) :rotfl2:

Ok, thanks...I will do just that!!!

Thoroughly enjoying the tour of Atlantis. Thank you for all the great pictures. Too bad you accidentally wandered out of the guarded area.

It was such a shame, right?

Love that smiling ray shot! Very cool.

I did too. I thought it was cute.

And that open mouth eel is so creepy!

VERY!!!!!!!

Love that shot of you on the bench. And don't we ALL wish we weighed what we did 13 years ago!

oh gosh yes! I am soooo much heavier now, it's so sad.

LOL on including Skip. That's probably as close to a cruise as he's going to get for a while. :p

And that is by his own choice. He has to be difficult!

I had NO idea that bridge between the buildings was a suite. And $25K? Who do they think they are, Disney? ;)

I do think they are related because they have similar pricing...

I enjoyed the illicit tour of the grounds. Thanks for risking committing some sort of international crime so we could get a better look. :)

Would that have just sucked. Being thrown in a Bahamian jail because we went in the forbidden Atlantis zone.

So sad that you missed that sign :rolleyes1 :P

It was a little thrilling. I am such the rebel.
We had a nice time that day. It was such a bummer you didn't come but I am glad you got a little rested.

It’s pretty wavy out, but many people were enjoying the beach.

atlantis139 by Jenseib, on Flickr

All of a sudden one of those wave runners was swept out to sea. You should have seen the guy go after that baby!

atlantis140 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis141 by Jenseib, on Flickr

This is not an alien in this picture…I just blurred out the young girl in her bathing suit. That guy is standing on a rescued wave runner.

atlantis142 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis143 by Jenseib, on Flickr

I guess she didn’t like this sunny day so much?

atlantis145 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis146 by Jenseib, on Flickr

I remembered this building from the last time I was here. I think Skip and I got a burger to share there. I knew we had to make our way over that way to get to back inside.

atlantis147 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Aha…here is the pretzel picture. I must have taken it later as we passed another food location.

atlantis148 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis149 by Jenseib, on Flickr

These guys liked to hang around the food locations.

We came to the shark lagoon now.

atlantis156 by Jenseib, on Flickr

bah28 by Jenseib, on Flickr

bah29 by Jenseib, on Flickr

The sharks were swimming with their fins up out of the water. I thought they only did that when they were going to attack something.

atlantis157 by Jenseib, on Flickr

bah30 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis158 by Jenseib, on Flickr

And a video…not very good and I stupidly tried to hum the jaws music…except I can’t carry a tune.

That saw shark (I am sure there is a technical name) was pretty cool.

bah32 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis160 by Jenseib, on Flickr

A look away from the sharks…so beautiful.

bah34 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Another bird hanging out.

atlantis161 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Up next….we better get moving so we aren’t late to meet Karen the Magnificent!

That water looks absolutely gorgeous! I would have had a hard time staying out of the ocean.

The pretzel looks tasty.

The resort must be massive, you've seen tons of places and there's still the waterpark.

Thank you Jen for letting me know about this report otherwise, I would have missed out. There is just too much to comment on so I'll just say that I'm all caught up and ready for more!

You are such a rebel!

Great shots of the resorts. Love those sharks!

I am not a big swimmer, so it doesn't draw me so much unless it is really hot.

The pretzel looks tasty.

it wasn't the best, but it was good.

It really is a huge place

Sure. I am a little scatter brained lately though too and I know I forgot to tell several people.

We are some wild things! hahah

The sharks were pretty cool

Hi Jen!

I finally made it over here, so glad you have another TR going! Love that you bought both Dooney's! I bought one of the SW ones on our cruise, and am using it every day!

Loving your TR and all your pics!

Yay!!
I just love the Dooneys. I did look at the Star Wars ones too but I refrained. LOL. We are cruising in Oct, so I can look again then......

I started walking a little faster now. I wanted to enjoy all this, but I knew we were getting closer to our meet time. We would just have to come back out here after the tour.

We finally made it into the bar/restaurant area. I think I took this exact same picture last time we were here.

atlantis162 by Jenseib, on Flickr

bah33 by Jenseib, on Flickr

I was now walking ahead of the rest of them…kind of like the one kid who is always ahead of the family. LOL. Hey guys I found the steps to go down and look at the sharks…we should come back and do this after our tour!

On I went, with my slow pokes following behind.

atlantis163 by Jenseib, on Flickr

A quick hi to the rays.

atlantis164 by Jenseib, on Flickr

I waited at the top of the steps for the rest to catch up.

And back through the shopping area.

atlantis173 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis174 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis175 by Jenseib, on Flickr

We arrived at the lobby and looked around. I didn’t see anyone who looked like they were waiting on us so I asked at the desk where I would find Karen. She pointed me over to another desk because she said she had just been over there. That guy found Karen for me and we all introduced ourselves and I did tell he we had an extra and hoped that was ok. She was fine with it.

She handed us each a little bit of paperwork, basically brochures/map type things and took us over to a table in the lobby and then proceeded to tell us a bit about Atlantis in general and what we would be doing today.

atlantis176 by Jenseib, on Flickr

I LOVE this couch!

atlantis177 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Then she took us to the elevator and we headed up in the Coral tower to tour a room.

atlantis178 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis179 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis180 by Jenseib, on Flickr

The rooms are spacious! I believe she told us later that all of the Coral Tower is being refurbished later this summer. And I mean all, rooms, lobby, etc! They are going to actually close the tower down during this time.

atlantis181 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis182 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis183 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Now Atlantis has several price points and different towers cost different prices. I believe the Beach Tower is the entry level and that building was much smaller looking (from the outside) than I had thought it would be. We never went in there. Next up would be Coral. Coral is pretty popular as it is closer to a lot of things and still at a lower price point. That being said, Atlantis is an expensive resort.

The nice thing about Atlantis is a room with a view is not too hard to come by, no matter where you room is.

atlantis190 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis191 by Jenseib, on Flickr

bah37 by Jenseib, on Flickr

What a view!

bah38 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Karen would point out some things too so we had a better lay of the land.

atlantis192 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis193 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis194 by Jenseib, on Flickr

I had my DSLR with me today and I could zoom in on different areas. I am glad I had carried it today.

atlantis196 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis197 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis198 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis199 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Back inside the room Karen pointed out the mini fridge.

atlantis200 by Jenseib, on Flickr

We also chatted and asked some questions and then moved on. I wasn’t good about taking room number pictures but I believe this was the room we had just been in.

atlantis201 by Jenseib, on Flickr

And on we went.

atlantis202 by Jenseib, on Flickr

We headed down. Atlantis has monitors displaying flight information for people so they can check their flight info when needed. They also have a lounge for airport check in, etc.

atlantis203 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis204 by Jenseib, on Flickr

She took us down a flight of stairs to the lower level of the Coral Tower where Crush, the teen club is.

This kiosk is where you sign the kids up. This has a cost. Also when signing up they have to have proof of age with a birth certificate and/or passport.

atlantis205 by Jenseib, on Flickr

She said this place is so cool and popular that adults wanted to come so now they have some times with adult/family activities and then select times for just the teens.

atlantis206 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis207 by Jenseib, on Flickr

From the kiosk we moosied down the hall towards the actual club, passing one of the many Starbucks.

atlantis208 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Karen went in a side door and said she would come around the front to let us in.

atlantis209 by Jenseib, on Flickr

This speedway is right next to Crush and you can design and build a car and then race it. Kind of like a build a bear for guys.

atlantis210 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis211 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Karen came around and opened the doors and we were let in the entryway.

atlantis212 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Brook then had another one of her coughing fits and we were all scrambling looking for water. Karen went off and stole a bottle from the Crush refreshment area and I believe Ellen had a bottle as well and soon Brook was under control again. It really was a bad coughing fit, but with a little water she was able to start breathing again.

atlantis213 by Jenseib, on Flickr

We moved around the club and Karen pointed out things and explained how it all worked.

atlantis214 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis215 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis216 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis217 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis218 by Jenseib, on Flickr

This place was huge and had so much to offer.

atlantis219 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis220 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis221 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis222 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Continued……

We continued with our Crush tour.

atlantis223 by Jenseib, on Flickr

They had chairs all around this and kids could play video games. A few commented on their husbands would never leave this area.

atlantis224 by Jenseib, on Flickr

And that little cove behind Ellen, I think those were just little chill out areas.

atlantis225 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis226 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis227 by Jenseib, on Flickr

You name it and they had it…it really is a teens dream area.

atlantis228 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis229 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis230 by Jenseib, on Flickr

And they had a dance club area and drinks could be bought there as well.

atlantis231 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis232 by Jenseib, on Flickr

And Karen said they are supervised quite well here.

atlantis233 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis234 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis235 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis236 by Jenseib, on Flickr

And after a few questions we left crush and took a peek through the window at the speedway while Karen locked up.

atlantis237 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis238 by Jenseib, on Flickr

I think we ended up taking a potty break at this point too.

atlantis239 by Jenseib, on Flickr

And then moved on heading over to the Royal Tower.

atlantis240 by Jenseib, on Flickr

bah39 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Up next….Best room view EVER!

Does anyone else seem to be having a lot of issues with Dis lately? It seems almost every evening it goes offline for a bit.

Great pics of the teen club, Jen. It looks like a great place to hang out.

As for your question on the DIS - so far I have not had any problems. It goes down for maintenance at 10am (my time - which should be the middle of the night for you) but otherwise it is running smoothly for me

It's around 9, 10 pm here when I have issues most times. But really since they changed it to this new format I have had issues off and on constantly. It's one of the reasons I don't come on here as often anymore. It's such a pain to try and get the page to load 5 times before I can read anything.

It was pretty obvious to Karen that we were all Disney lovers. Who else schedules a work trip on a Disney cruise? LOL. Throughout the tour we all had mentioned our love of Disney as well.

We now were led into the Royal Tower to tour another room. Karen said she just knew we were going to love this room and before anything we had to take a look at the view…so we did and LOVE we did!

atlantis251 by Jenseib, on Flickr

bah41 by Jenseib, on Flickr

This room faced the other way and she pointed out how pretty much all rooms had some sort of fantastic view. The downside to this view for me is that if I was staying here I would be sad not to be on the Disney ship. LOL. But who am I kidding…this place was wonderful too!

You still had fabulous resort views too.

atlantis252 by Jenseib, on Flickr

It really is like paradise when you can see all of this and a DCL ship in the background.

bah40 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Again, Karen pointed out different things on the property. Down below the not so lazy river.

bah42 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Over yonder is the dolphin area.

atlantis253 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Those towers in the distance are even more expensive, being the Reef and Cove Towers I believe.

atlantis254 by Jenseib, on Flickr

bah43 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Yeah it was hard not to go back and look at our ship in the distance.

bah44 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis255 by Jenseib, on Flickr

I zoomed in on the dolphin area and I could see a few bob up.

atlantis256 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis257 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis258 by Jenseib, on Flickr

Now let’s take a look at the room itself.

atlantis268 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis269 by Jenseib, on Flickr

The down side to Atlantis is that their rooms only hold 4. For a bigger party you really have to get 2 rooms.

Another look outside before we left.

atlantis270 by Jenseib, on Flickr

atlantis271 by Jenseib, on Flickr

And we moved on again. I don’t think I got the room number shot for this room.

Up next…..WOW! I need to win the lottery!

Beautiful rooms at Atlantis and the view of the Magic in the background is priceless.

Hi Jen,

Great pics of the Chiluly too!

I've priced out going to Atlantis, I think I looked at the cheapest ones - those other house type places, they don't have resort fees tacked on.

I've had trouble with the DIS a lot lately - it doesn't want to move ahead pages, and stops responding-I'm usually on around 8-9 at night...
