Thought I would finally check in! My name is Jill and I'll be sailing solo. This will be DCL cruise #5...I've done 2 4 nights on the Wonder, a 3 night on the Wonder (the infamous $99 bounceback cruise!) and 11 night Med cruise last year.

I'm really looking forward to planning this cruise....Can't believe its only 9 months away!

Thanks BigRed. What a nice view. I showed my dh and dd12 the picture and said it was a New Year's present from a fellow cruiser. They both were like "Is that our boat? It's not in the water. They're not done with it yet? When will it be finished? You mean it's going to be practically brand new when we sail on it?" LOL. They are on a need-to-know basis.

Just thinking about the DIS meet. Was talking to my dd12 this morning and she is anxious about meeting other girls to hang out with on the cruise. This is our first cruise where we have not had friends join us. So she is feeling lonely and apprehensive about meeting new friends. With that being said, I would like to do a cruise meet on embarkation day to get her introduced and interactive with the other girls her age. She will be in the 11-13 age group. As she will be turning 13 on the 8th. Her sister will be in the teen club since she will be 16. Livie is shy meeting people. She is concerned she will have to hang out with her parents and be bored because we take pictures. So if it would be convenient for everyone to meet on embarkation day, that would be great to get things going and have optimal time for fun. Anywhere is fine with me. How long do we have between the safety drill and the sail away party?

On some past cruises, a parent would start either a cruise thread or a closed Facebook page just for the kids. That way, they can get acquainted before the cruise. I know of some that did the email pen pal thing also. You might consider that as an option.

That sounds good We are going to try to get to the port early this year so that we can eat lunch and play on the aqua duck before it gets too crowded.

I would suggest "October 6, 2012, Sailing the Ocean Blue Kids Thread" on the meets thread. Once you have that thread established, either let me or jjgarv know in a PM, so the link can be added to the first page of this thread for all who are interested. You should also post in this thread that you will be posting a new thread for the kids.

If you want to start a new thread, go to the top left of this page and click Disney Cruise Meets. Then scroll to the bottom of the thread list and click the New Thread button on the left. To hold down confusion, I would title it Sailing the Ocean Blue...Kids Thread, October 6, 2012, Fantasy. With a like thread name, it will be easy for the adults to find and monitor the thread.
