Sailing 1/21/06 - Should I change dates?

We are sailing for the first time on 1/21/06 on the 7 day Eastern. After reading the reports today of the rough seas, etc. from the recent sailings, I am wondering if I should change to February 2006. Is there that much of a difference between the two months? Any experienced cruisers who can help me out with this?

Based on my experiences, I don't think there's much difference. The seas are generally pretty calm at this time of year. Of course, at any time of year, you can encounter a rough patch. Based on the anecdotal evidence of people reporting on this board, the ships aren't any less likely to miss Castaway Cay in January as opposed to February. Both months have a 91% success rate, based on the trip reports on this site from the past coupl of years. The actual numbers are 40 out of 44 tries in January, and 30-33 in February. This doesn't account for all trips, just the ones reported here.

We sailed for the first time this past February and we loved it, we had one night of rough weather but for the most part it was great. We liked it so much so, we are booked on the Feb 4 2006 Eastern.

Maybe if you decide to change, we might see you there. There is a thread started for this cruise, hope to see ya there.

I've never sailed on the Eastern but did the Western late Jan 2003 and got rough weather on the first and last days. Hit a storm and did not get into Castaway Cay. Did the Wonder on Jan 23rd this year and we got into Castaway Cay plus the seas were pretty calm. Heard the cruise prior had rough seas though. You can never predict the weather and I don't believe that a couple of weeks can make that great of a difference.

Rough seas and bad weather can happen anytime.

The temperatures may be a little warmer for CC and the pools in Feb. than in Jan.
