Now that the kids are back to school, I would love to make something that I can sell to make extra money. Any ideas??? Not to mention I am depressed all day at home and can only do so much cleaning.....

I don't know what you could make at home for extra money. But are all your kids in school? If they are you could get a part time job possible working at the school in the cafeteria or as a teachers aid. Or even your local grocery store, you can work while the kids are in school and make your schedule around their days off. You could even see if anyone you know needs their house cleaned to make some extra cash?

Either way good luck at finding something. No one wants a depressed mommy at home.

I work for ChaCha it has been a little slow lately but is starting to pick up I work while the kids are at school its not fantastic money but I do at least 130 a week.

Adding to Marmalades suggestions: Work at a mothers day out program or pick up lunch rush waitressing shifts. These would allow you to be off work when the kids are out of school.

What exactly do I have to do? Any money is something. Plus I'm always at the computer. Do I need to have any kind of experience?

I also do the ChaCha thing. Basically, someone send in a text to ChaCha, as a guide, you find an answer and send it back. We work on computers at home. we are independent contractors also. something to think about. any questions, feel free to PM me. http://becomeaguide.chacha.com/

do you make any crafty things? You can sell them on Etsy

Also you can always volunteer places if you want to just get out of the house for a little bit.

I'm loving these ideas. I'm in the same situation. I have homeschooled my kids for years and this is the first year that most of them are back to school. I only have 1 left at home now. Even when they all go back, I really could use some work at home ideas because we live 25 miles from the closest town and the commute makes it really hard to do a part time job. The money spent on gas just eats away at what I would make.

The October 1 issue of Womans day magazine has a bunch of work at home ideas. I have been going through them to see if anything would work for me. One site was www.fiverr.com. I looked at it, and I can't believe the things people will do for $5.00. Lets just say, I can't believe the things people will pay $5.00 for. :rotfl2:

One was someone writing names with apples, taking a picture and e-mailing it to the person. People pay $5.00 for that. :confused3

I am also looking for a way to make money while the kids are at school. Are you tied to your computer while doing this? Would I still be able to get up and throw a load of laundry in, fold a load, etc. If I didn't feel like doing it one day, can I just not log in? How many hours are you working to make 130 in a week? Can you just stop doing it for a day if your tired of it? Or do you have to complete a shift? I looked at the website - do you work as an expiditor, specialist or generalist? How could I make the most money?

Sorry to bombard with questions...but I have used ChaCha before, but didn't realize I could work for them from home - this looks like something that might work for me...but I am worried that if I am spending a bunch of time at the computer and not getting my housework done just to make a few bucks an hour, that I would be better off getting part-time job elsewhere.

honestly, i wouldn't consider chacha a part-time job, more like fun money. i've worked for them for almost 2.5 years, and the pay just keeps shrinking. i used to be able to make an easy $20 a day before lunch. now i have to get up before 6:00am and work until noon just to make about $11. however, the upside is that i can work whenever i want (or not work whenever i want), there's no quota, and bonuses are usually offered on the weekends. i use my chacha money to pay for 2 chiropractor visits per month, DD12's dance lessons, clarinet rental and the little things i charge on my credit card each month.

You are not tied to the computer. There are no set hours. You just log in when you want to work and log out when you are done working/kid is crying/someone at the door/whatever. It is hard to say how many hours one works to make a certain amount of money. You are paid per query. So those that are faster, make more money. There are tips and tricks to getting that way. I am currently an expeditor. I was a SP/GE but was finding it hard to make money that way. As an EX I am making more than I was as a SP/GE. Not everyone does though. From what everyone shares on the forums over there, we all make roughly the same amount of money per hour worked. If you decide to give it a try, PM me and I will send you my yahoo ID. I will walk you through the training. It is a LOT to learn and you self teach so it helps to have someone willing to be there.

If you are crafty, check out the tutu thread here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2048367&highlight=tutu
They are super easy to make. Don't cost a ton in material and easily sell for twice what you put into it. If you add ribbons and get all fancy, you can charge more. People really don't understand how easy it is. I am craft challenged and even I made one of these for DD. Not that she can wear it yet. I was just excited. LOL

HELP WITH CHA CHA!!!!!!

I signed up already and started the first question on the readiness test. I had a slight problem and hope I didnt ruin my chances. The question was how do you say good day in Spanish?? I had to go to the quick link at the bottom to translate it but I could not figure out how to put in the source. I hope i didn't screw up my chances. Ugh!!!!! Also how do I create the cha cha task bar on other computers in the house?
Thanks

Hi you can consider the following that will help you make some money or save some money:

*Consider backyard / container veggie gardening. Some veggies, you only cut the leaves a bit at a time and they keep growing.
*Consider worm composting to enhance your veggie gardening and with luck, you can sell worms and compost.
*Sell on amazon and ebay your old items.

And so on.

What is ChaCha?

Someone sends in a question and if you are a guide you answer it. I am e Expeditor and I see if I can find the answer if not I send it on or use one of the tools we have to answer it. If you are interested or have more questions PM me.

You can work whatever hours you are able to I do it in between loads of laundry etc. You don't have any shifts you just do it when you can. I am a expediter you would make the most money being a generalist which is actually searching and finding the answers. If you have any other questions PM me. It is great for me because I don't have to leave the house and if the kids are sick or off school I don't have to worry about child care.
