Try chocolate-covered, candied orange peels. Sounds disgusting, I know, but trust me, it's one of foods greatest gifts.

Hollyann - I used to make those as a garnish for one of the desserts I served when I was a pasrty chef - They are yummy, aren't they!
In fact, now you've got me craving them so bad, I might have to whip up a batch!

Well, I guess since we're all clueless on this conversation, I feel right at home. It's almost like chatting with my sisters. We all speak at once and we all follow along!

However, being a diet coke purist, I'd have to run out to the store if you're having diet pepsi (but that's probably for the debate board). No worries, whenever I go anywhere, I take cold diet coke with me! (Caffeine free - of course, I AM on the WISH board, too!)

Leota - you were a pastry chef!?!? My DIL trained at Cordon Bleu in Paris. She's also a pastry chef! However, I was recently diagnosed as "pre-diabetic", so I have to skip the desserts. A lot of other things, too, but no worries......I feel great!

Where did you work at? Until this diabetes nonsense, I had planned on getting my culinary degree. However, I had to give up baking. Poor hubby, he eats like a diabetic, too. He's a good sport. He's love to have some lemonade, though!

Hollyann - I went to RIT for Hotel/Rest. mgmt, but liked the kitchen more than the mgmt part. I did an apprenticeship here in Rochester NY & worked in many aspects of the kitchen. I "retired" when I had my son, almost 16 years agon. The hours of a Pastry Chef aren't conducive to child-rearing......
Shame, I left my job due to pregnancy right after my boss informed me he was sending me to France for an apprenticeship.... Wish he had sent me ealier so I could have had both experiences!

I am only indulging in cyber-sweets as I don't think chocolate dipped yummies would help my current South Beach diet.

Cyber-sweets! I love it! I'm on a low-fat Atkins, or a low-carb South Beach....I guess it depends on how you look at it. Basically, I can't have the yummy stuff on either!

It sounds like you've had quite the restaurant experience! The apprenticeship in France would have been lovely.

I've never been there, but my son did a great deal of his courting in France while (then future) DIL was there. He's a teacher, so he could spend summers in France - doesn't that sound grand? When I was young a sophisticated summer for me meant I had a new bathing suit to wear to the community pool! However, six months ago, DIL also quit the gourmet world when she presented us with our brand new grandson!

minnipumpernickel - I have no idea where you can get the chocolate covered dried strawberries! Good luck finding them. If not, maybe you could make them and bring them to the cyber lemonade fiesta!
