We are staying at the SSR in a few days. I have a question about the walkway from SSR to DTD. If I wanted to shop and walk back to the resort after dark, is it safe? I just wanted to know if it is patroled by security, how long a walk is it, much walking traffice? Any info is appreciatted.

Its about a five min. walk to the 1st building.I saw security at night. There seem to be a lot of walkers at night along the path next to the lake.Lighting was good. We were there in oct.and had a really good time. Hope you enjoy it.

We were also there in October and walked to and from SSR and DTD several times. The path was well lighted and a good, safe walk. The only part that is anything to be cautious about is crossing the roadway right at DTD over to the sidewalk over to SSR. About 15 feet in all.

There are two paths from DTD to SSR. One path goes from the Westside, past the golf course and across a bridge to the boat launch at SSR. This path is not nearly as well lit as the path from the Marketplace to the main entrance side of SSR, but it is still a safe walk.

Before I went to SSR I was wondering the same thing, but after walking the path almost every night of our visit I found it nothing but safe.. and quite relaxing actually. It's actually not as long as it sounds, and kind of nice being able to see both SSR and DTD as you meander away.

Great, thanks for all the info. Being I will be walking it alone, thought I had better get the info. I had a feeling Disney wouldn't have any dark, scary, places. I feel better now.

Hi Memymomonica

I stayed at SSR alone last May in a studio for Member Homecoming.

At the time, the path that leads to the DTD Marketplace, was not open so I didnt walk it by myself. Dh and I did walk it in September and it was very quick and well lit.
I also wanted to comment that I felt very safe at SSR.

One night I went down to the quiet pool and stuck my feet in the hot spa and security was patrolling the area. (1am)

Another night I decided to do laundry at the main pool, and security stopped in the laundry room as part of its patrolling. It made me feel more comfortable. The laundry room doors lock and you have to have a room key to get in.

Just trust your spidey senses and you will be okay:wave2:

Hi,
I was there in October and I walked several times with my three little ones and myself at night and not a problem. It is well lighted and will do it again on the next trip home.
