My DD and myself are beach lovers, while my husband is planning on snorkeling the whole time we are there.

If I took DD in the water and left my stuff (ie. KTTW, etc) on the beach would it be safe?

Why not get one of the waterproof cases to keep the card with you? That's what we use when we go to a water park.

rwc:wave:

On our last 3 sailings we leave EVERYTHING on the beach while snorkeling. Cameras, KTTW cards, money....never a problem. The only thing that ever disappeared was a blue floatie......and it may have blown away in the wind. Enjoy and have a great vacation........JMHO, people spending the kind of $$$ for a cruise don't walk up the beech looking for things to steel.

i have a pocket in my bathing suit and i always put my KTTW card in it cuz the pocket has a zipper and it wont fall out and the card still works and its water proof. The water doesnt ruin the card. But other people wont steal your stuff, my mom leaves her camera and everything on the chairs and nothing happens to them, mostly everyone is in the water anyways, have a great time :D

Dont leave your things unattended. Last Oct on the Wonder we had just purchased over $80 worth of merchandise at the store - we went to lunch and I forgot the bag. When I went back it was gone and no one ever turned it in. I was so mad and my kids were so disappointed because they collect pins and they had picked out some nice ones. If still gets me mad now to think about it.

So learn from my mistake - dont leave your stuff alone - it can happen anywhere.

I know this sounds silly, but I keep my video camera in a small diaper bag. It is padded, somewhat waterproof and no one ever bothers it.

Generally, I would agree. However, only probably 25% of the people actually paid. This would normally be the Parents.

There are teens wandering around, and if you've ever worked in retail, you will know many shoplifters are teens out for a thrill, and they often have more money in their pockets (or purses) than the item they stole cost.

Also, if the ship population and it is 99.9% honest, that will still leave 5-10 ne-er do wells to worry about.

I believe that a lock keeps an honest person honest.

Don't leave things out for temptation to rear it's ugly head, and we will all have better memories.

The first day of the cruise I left my video camera behind TWICE in places!! The first day I left it on the floor of the restaurant we ate at when we boarded...I ran back across the ship and it was still there! The next place I left it was on the floor under a table at the deck party....I went back and it was now sitting ON the table but still there! I need to have that thing chained to me!
We did leave everything in a beach bag at CC and no one ever bothered it...though I did just bring off the ship what I really needed, left the video camera in the room and took a disposable waterproof camera with me.

We left everything on the beach at Castaway Cay when we went snorkeling and didn't have a problem. We had a backpack that we left on a chair with our towels over it and we felt secure with that.

Nope, no lockers. Best you could do would be to lock a bag to a lounge chair.

I meant to get one of those waterproof boxes for my KTTW but I forgot. Now my cruise is two weeks away. Is there any place on the ship or in Cape Canaveral that I can buy one?

The ship sells small waterproof cases to put your KTTW card in. So does Ron Jons in Cocoa Beach...plus Ron Jons is open 24 hours and the ship shops do not open until later in the evening of the first day...they are not allowed to be open while the ship is in port.

We have sailed DCL 11 times with 10 times at CC (last week were not able to go because of damage...boohoo)...anyway we never had a problem leaving our stuff on the beach but that is not to say I do not worry about it. We are never really gone that long from our stuff.

Just because it is Disney does not mean that is safe from people up to no good....even on the ship. A ship is a small city with passengers and crew from all over the world and all different personalities and backgrounds....it is best to use common sense in all areas.

Last year some DCL crew were arrested on drug smuggling charges....so it can happen anywhere!!! But that said....I have always felt safe onboard and on CC. As much as I would like to think that only wonderful, upstanding citizens cruise Disney....it is not the case.
