Safety question ?

I have not posted much here since we came back from the cruise things got crazy with softball and end of the school year stuff. I don't mean to start drama but when that is all that has been on tv since Thursday you start to think what if. I know we are safe and I should not think like this but it is just the mom in me that want's to make sure we are all safe. I need to figure out if my husband can carry outside of new York if he can that would make me feel better.

This is the Canadian in me showing, but you're saying you want to keep you, your kids, and other kids safe and the solution is MORE guns is just so backwards to me..

You need to figure out? How long has your husband been a cop? Doesn't he know where he's allowed to carry a gun?

You need to figure out? How long has your husband been a cop? Doesn't he know where he's allowed to carry a gun?

I know the local level cops can not carry outside of the state they are a cop in. He has never carried outside of new York, he has been a state trooper for 10 years.

I was thinking of the city and south of that since we have to go through the city and new jersey to get where we are going. The south is not bad we go to myrtle beach every year as we have a summer home down there but we are not going this year since softball is taking up our summer.

There's no need for you yo go into the city, in fact doing so doesn't make any sense at all since you'd have to go out of your way and head east to get to the city and in the process of traveling there you will have passed multiple highways heading south that lead directly into NJ on your way to the NJ Turnpike.

I get that but he doesn't need to take it on the trip. That's the point I'm making..you're worried about violence while you're away and in your mind the way to avoid violence is with a violent gun. Again, it's so backwards to me. That's not a knock against you personally, it just shows how different our countries are in our attitudes towards guns.

There's a different thread that shows a picture of people with rifles strapped to their backs and they're at the store! I can't imagine living somewhere where that's a common thing.

May I ask a question? I have not read all the pages. But what does your husband think about your worries? If he is not worried , then you should not be worried either. These protests go on here where I live, and I still have to do my normal routine. I don't think about it.

He is not worried at all. I just think that everything that has happened over the last few weeks just has me on edge. The shooting in Orlando the groping at the pool at pop and one of the water parks. And now these cops shooting again.

There is talk of passing a low to have gun training for teachers here in the states and that every classroom should have a gun in it. I don't like this world we are living in now

A visit to a Dr. for anxiety medicine might be in order. This is not rational thinking. You really need to step away from news sources/disboards if it all adds up like this for you.

We are doing the thruway to the nj pike and then the tunnel to Virginia beach. MapQuest had us going through Baltimore and dc to get to the hotel where we are staying.

Then if your wonderful husband is not worried, then go with what he knows. Do you think your husband would honestly put the family in any danger if he thought there was any? So don't worry , go on to the event and take the lead from your husband. I will pray for you to have peace about it. Talk about the fun and the memories you and the family will have on the trip.

I'm not a teacher but I do work in a school and have never heard of this law.

Again this world is the same one that has been around since the beginning of time. I mean for those that believe Cain did kill Able with a stone. For those that don't a stone (ice stone, meteor Idk) killed some dinosaurs. Either way stones have always been thrown and it has never been safe.

I'm American and it is just as backward to me, too. I truly wish I was living somewhere where it wasn't a common thing.
