Anyone have any opinons or inside advice on this seat? I was considering the compass for travel but would really rather have a harness still. So I found this seat but cannot find any reviews of it yet. Anyone??

A friend of mine got this seat for her DD about a year ago and absolutely loves it. Her DD was about 3 yo when she moved into and hated being confined in her Britax Marathon. My mom ended up getting one for her car for my DD who has outgrown the carseat that we gave her that goes to 40 pounds. From my limited use of it, it seems very comfortable for DD and easy for my mom to install in her car. We're thinking about getting one for DH's car because I don't think that my DD is ready for a belt positioning booster yet.

best place to get car seat advice and reviews is car-seat.org there are tons of techs (me included) and lots and lots of nice people over there check it out!!!

Here is a link to some reviews of the Safeguard Go.

If your child fits the weight requirement and is not too tall for it, I think it would be a great choice for a travel seat. If we traveled more, I'd get one for my kids. A great option if you want to keep your child harnessed.

You guys who are the "experts" at this - it can be installed using LATCH to 65 pounds unless your vehicle manufacturer states a lower limit? Am I understanding that correctly? BUT - it can be installed with the seatbelt to 65 pounds while still using the harness? I want this for travel and ease - but it seems like I can only find it online. Also - does anyone know the differences between the 2007 model and the new one?

Ok i had to go through and read darren's review to figure it out b/c i've never seen one in person .... but yes b/c the seat is so light weight it can be used up to 65 in say a Toyota that doesn't have a limit, where as a honda it could only be used to 40#'s b/c that's their LATCH limit, and there are many variations in all car models usally 48 but some 40 some 60 some don't have them.
The great thing is once you child out grows the 65 # harness (but bylooking she looks pretty skinny) she will likely out grow it by height which is when her sholders are above the hightes harness setting, and the down fall is if you dd is skinny and tall then you don't want to NOT use a harness if the child OR ANY CHILD is under 4 years old or under 40#s ... also a child need to be mature enough to sit in a booster and not lean over to pick something up off the floor or not push the seat belt off their sholder, ect.

Okay - she is pretty skinny. Almost 41" and 39 lbs (75% height, 50% weight). I guess my problem now is that we will have a rental car and no way of knowing the model in advance. But surely she won't gain more than a pound in the next 2 1/2 weeks so I can use latch for the install. And I guess if she does then I'll just install with the seatbelt - but if I'm going to go with this seat I better get it ordered so I can practice with it before we leave. Oh....and thanks for the other site and reviews it did help. I just wish I could figure out the difference in this years model compared to last years.

Once your child is at least 1 year old and weighs at least 20 pounds, she can ride forward facing in her car seat. The car safety seat must be installed tightly in the car. The harness should fit snug against your child. There are safety 1stcar seats that can be used forward facing or as a booster. These are called a combination forward facing/booster seat.
