Question ladies...

I'm planning a layout for one of my DCL pages. For some reason I didn't take as many photos as usual at dinner the Small World night. But I was thinking of using the menu cover as part of the background as it is so cool.

(Um, yea our server sort of "missed" that he only got 3 menus back from our table of 4 every night)

Anyway, if I mount the cover on card stock, then cover the whole page with vellum BEFORE mounting the photos (which I think I'd do a very narrow mat for) will that be safe enough in terms of possible acid transfer or should I really scan and print the cover to acid free stock?

I think you should scan it- if you are concerned about the acids which are in the menu paper bleeding through. Otherwise you would have to use very buffered papers. I know that the "P" series from CM is the best that they make for those kind of things- their regular papers are not super buffered like the "P" series.

Yes, you'll probably be safe after covering with vellum and them matting the pictures. If you're still unsure, you can use Archival Mist. That's what I did when I included our Tower of Terror photo holder. I sprayed it with Archival Mist, matted my picture and put that on the holder.

I have scrap books from my mom from 50 years ago... with ticket stubs, napkins, coasters, ANYTHING... you name it, she saved it and included it in this scrapbook (a tour of Europe) and everything is still in remarkable condition!!!

Thanks ladies! I'm still not sure if I'm actually going to use the menu but in case I decide to wanted the input.
