Hello! Totally new here, just found out we're going with some family down to Disney World in just a few weeks and we're really excited!! The only thing I'm worried about is my DS 2 food allergies. We'll be staying in a camper as the Disney Wilderness campsite, so the meals I will be preparing there I know will be safe, but I would like to at least take him to a character breakfast, and I'm sure we'll be stopping for meals while in the park. I want to know if there are any places I need to know about as far as requesting "special" meals for my son?? I just want to be prepared in advance in case places don't have any way accomodating his needs, and whether or not it would be advised to bring my own food at times? Any information you could share with me would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Disney is very accomodating to those with special dietary needs. When you make your ADRs, please mention your son's allergies. You will also be given phone numbers for the various chefs if you'd like to call them directly and discuss your concerns. When you arrive at the restaurants, the chef will come to your table to go over the menu and any questions you might have. If you visit CS restaurants, there are binders available that list ingredients for each of the menu items. You can also request to talk to the manager. I have 2 kids with multiple food allergies. We've never had any problems at Disney. They are extremely helpful and allergy aware. Have a great time! :flower3:

I agree with the above poster. WDW is very accomodating with food allergies.

I"ve heard that there is a phone # you can call to specifically speak to someone about accomodating for allergies. Anyone know it?

In the meantime, I"m going to PM you a link that may help
(Boards won't let you post links publically)

It's from Allearsnet in case anyone is interested!

I would suggest going to the disABILITIES Forum. Start with the disABILITIES FAQ, especially Post #3 in the section on Diets. If you wish, just follow the lnk in my signature.

Disney is great about allergies for the most part. I know when we were at the Tusker house- the chefs were really taking a lot of time walking guests through what they could and couldn't have. I heard at Hollywood and Vine them doing the same and both of those are character breakdast.

My grandson has several food allergies and Disney chefs have always been accommodating. The best was when we went to Boma. First, the chef put together a selection of desserts from the buffet that he could safely eat, and personally brought the platter to our table. As if that weren't enough, the chef then went to the kitchen and actually prepared a dessert just for him. Talk about making him feel special. Have no fear if you have special dietary needs.

Yes, in most instances (and usually without you asking) the chef will come out and assist your food choices. I have a pork and fish allergy and our last visit in 2006 was the first time that I was guided around the various buffets. The chef at Boma was wonderful, telling me what to stay away from, especially if something seemed alright to eat but it was made with a pork stock or something. Make sure you tell the host when you check in and ask for the chef. I'm sure they'll be more than happy to assist.
