We did this several years ago and we loved it. We have not had enough people in our group since then to do it again or we would do it every year. If you love the Safari then this is a not to miss. The safari is way more personalized. You have a driver and a guide and the guide takes way more time explaining/pointing out things. They also let you "stand up" to take pictures and do not move on till everyone has the shot and is sitting again.
The dinner was great, think Boma type food family style. Our grandgathering name was on the table so there was not a choice there. Again we did this years ago but we had several salads, breads, spit roasted tandori chicken/couscous/grilled pineapple, berbere spice crusted prime rib from the rotisserie/roasted youkon gold potatoes, peri peri marinated grilled salmon filet/a bean fritter, cape-malay curried lamb stew/jollof yellow rice, saffron infused root vegetables and cabbage, lots of fruit, chocolate cake and moroccan baklava. They had music and the kids could get up and help with a song. Characters came out for pix at the end, again no rush so be the last ones out. The CM also stepped out to the side and had some small critters for the kids to see and learn about, we had spiders and stuff. We are very bland eaters ( meat and potatoes) and we stuffed outselves.
If you decide to do this and are going the first week in October there are 3 of us that would love to be apart of your Safari Celebration.
