Saddened about possible closure of COP

We love COP. It's a great big Beautiful Tomorrow is such a catchy tune!

I really hope they keep it. We really enjoy it this attraction every time we go.
OK, now I'm going to sing it all night! I'm so sad about COP, I LOVE it! I crack up at all the fads and how each time they have stuff that is the latest and greatest-picturing the belt fat burner the daughter had! :rotfl:

We went on this for the first time last December (the other two trips it had been closed) and my kids, 9 and 12, really liked it. They were amazed at the "new" things in 1900, 1920, and 1940.

I watched the Tribue video on from the link and it is cool. Lots of history there. It also has the whole ride, but why oh why didn't the person filming sit where there weren't heads in front of him?

I don't understand how anyone could think it's boring, frankly. There are plenty of attractions that are a lot more boring than COP (Hall of Presidents, Indy Cars, Spaceship Earth, Journey into Imagination, El Rio del Tiempo, Stitch, all of Toontown, Fantasmic... ) I'm sure I would get some disagreement on some of those! ;)

Anyway, all 3 of my kids, who are now 6, 8 and 10, love it and have loved it since they were even littler.

I guess I also don't understand - would they rather have some attraction that can only get 1000 people through in an hour and have everyone standing in lines for every attraction? I think it's great to know there are some attractions you don't have to wait in line for! And, COP's throughput has to be a LOT higher than many other attractions, which may make it appear less popular than it really is.

I will hate it if they take out COP....That is one of the best rides there...because it isn't a ride you can find anywhere....I think that is what makes disney special...it has rides that arent typical. I can ride bumper cars back home at Carowinds....that isnt anything special.

I suspect if there would be a plan to close COP, the attraction would ultimately be donated to the Smithsonian American History Museum. Though it would not be at Disneyworld, I would suspect that it would eventually be relocated and open to the public.

COP is one of my favorites. I would be upset if they closed it, especially if they were only closing it to save money and not replace it with something else, just like they have done with 20,000 Leagues.

I agree completely! :)

I hope this is a rumor i love those corny jokes. I don't think it would be the same w/o it.

this rumor has been going around for a couple years, as 'evidence' someone usually eventually posts a picture with the buzz and the aliens on the carosel of progesss sign, of course, problem is, the COP is used an an area to give out candy for Mickeys very scary holloween party, and thats where the pictures, and 'rumors' come from.
:rolleyes1

Well, "killer", the photo you're referring to came from last years' MNSSHP. I saw it. However, this time the rumor has some legs. Dtroops.com/savedisney.com and jimhillmedia are all reporting that WDW managment are considering this activley. Many here and around the world think that this particular attraction is very valuable to the experience of WDW. Not only is it really the only attraction in the Florida locale that Walt personally built, but the historical and educational value of the attraction is something that most want their children and grandchildren to experience. While WDW management is not going to confirm their thinking of nuking COP, I think all who feel it's an important part of Tomorrowland should express their feelings, both by writting to WDW management, and by going to the attraction. :)

Yep, I agree with the above poster. The rumor is more substantial than it has been in the past, which really worries me. I think the COP is a true Disney classic, and I would hate to see them close it, especially for a bumer cars attraction. Though I enjoy Timekeeper on occasion, I would much prefer that they use that location if they must do the bumper cars type ride.
