sad story man beats his son to death and blames it on slavery

I was watching Hannity and Colmes last night on Fox when the baby woke up to eat. There was this awful story about a man who beat his child to death broken ribs and a broken neck along with over 70 other marks. The child was potty training. It so awful for any child to be beaten. The child has passed god bless his soul and the father is now up for murder charges. His defense is because he is black he has Post Traumatic Slavery Syndrome. Apparently because black people were slaves and still face racial inequalities and such (and I do believe racism is still alive in our country) that its not his fault he beat his child because white people beat slaves. I am not condoning slavery in anyway and I am not black but I dont know how you can use this as an excuse. This man was never a slave. The gentlemen on TV last night was defending this man for beating his child saying he was probably beaten by his parents and so forth and that its justified because whites beat black as slaves. The judge said she would consider it at trial but not at pretrial. Has anyone else ever heard of this? Is this a legit defense for the beating and murder of a child? There IS no defense for beating a child to death. Not any. I could care less what excuse he gives. If he's found guilty (which he is basically admitting) they should simply tie his arms and put him in a room with a guy with a baseball bat and tell the batter to have at it.

Absolutely NOTHING lower in this world than a person that would hurt a child.

He just has an external locus of control. It is easier to blame others than to look at yourself. I am curious, was he himself beaten by white people at some point? I know it still happens, but very few and far between.

Was he enslaved? If so It is too bad no one told him it is ILLEGAL now.

I think the only fair and reasonable punishment in this poor man's case is to listen to his concerns, allow him to vent his frustrations about the cruelties society emforces upon us all, minorities in particular. Perhaps offer a bit of counseling. And then, with a gentle smile, a concerned pat on the back, beat him until his ribs are broken, he has 70 marks on his own body, and his neck is snapped like a twig.

There's no excuse for someone like him.

Your right there is no EXCUSE to beat a child.
Just the other day a stupid jackazz dangled and dropped a newborn outside his car window. His bulldodo excuse for doing this was he found out he was not the baby's father!
I'm not sure if the baby survived or not, but I honestly hope this dog suffers day in and day out for what he did. The baby was not responsible for his mother's lies

Understand where you're coming from, Alicnwondrin. I agree, blacks ARE widely discriminated against and I have seen behaviour from members of the community that I do believe stem from the stress of this kind of cruel marginalization BUT...the beating of that defenseless baby bc of POST TRAUMATIC SLAVERY SYNDROME (that's a new one), as another poster put it, that's a load of doodoo.


But it just occurred to me...slavery DOES still go on, even in the US, covertly in individual private homes. There are stolen peoples from poorer African, West Indian and Southeast Asian countries...and I'm not talking about poorly paid illegal foreign service industry workers.laborers etc. but ACTUAL slaves who pick up after their enslaving family. I wonder if this man was that sort of slave...not that that in ANY way condones what he did. Just trying to clarify HOW they could come up with PTSS as a defense.

It's people like this guy that give the whole slavery issue a bad name. Of course, slavery should have a bad name, but I'm talking about the people that use it as an excuse for everything negative in their lives. There's no way he could possibly be justified for beating a child because of something that occurred over a hundred years ago. Yes, slavery was terrible, inhuman and sickening, it never should have happened.

Although I think if we could somehow conjure up a former slave, even they would agree that this man needs swift and severe punishment.

Yet another "shining" example of the "It's not my fault" mentality that is way too prevalent in our society today. The whole idea of PTSS is so much bovine excrement. If this person were a slave, it might possibly have a smidge of merit for consideration. As it is, it's the lamest excuse anyone has come up with for trying to justify child abuse.

I was shocked to see that people thought this was an acceptable excuse for hurting a child. There is a woman who is trying to further this as a defense for others. Her name is in the article that I posted with the original link.
