While DH and I were in Disney, we got news from our daughter that they have just called her back up for active duty again. She was just discharged from the Army in September of 03, did a tour in Afghanistan and Iraq. Thought I was done with worring about her, but I guess I was wrong.

She leaves in a few weeks, will be heading to Ft. Carson in Colorado, and will be there for 3 years. Hoping, she wont be deployed again, but you never know with the military.

Denise:(

I understand your worries and I'm sorry. I hope she stays stateside and not too far from Mom.

Denise....good thoughts to your daughter and your family.

Tell her Thank-you for defending our freedom........

hopping she could stay in the States

Ugh, that must be horrible thinking she was done, and then... I hope she stays here in the U.S.!!!!

What a nightmare for you as a parent! I am so sorry this is happening. I really hope your dd gets to stay stateside and doesn't have to deploy again.
Unfortunately I think a lot of parents are starting to see this. I have some friends whose son is a marine and although his time was up and he was discharged from the marines at the end of last year he had to remain on reserve for two more years. They have since activated him and told him he's going back for another deployment to Iraq and to expect it to last a year.

On a side note, something that really seems stupid to me is the length of the deployments that the army is routinely giving and now apparently the marines also. One year is too long a deployment for a soldier. I know so many soldiers and marines that have been deployed to Iraq for various lengths of time and without exception those that had deployments of 9 months or more had a much harder time with things mentally than those that served shorter periods of time. It's too much of a pressure cooker over there to expect our troops to stay so long and they should be bringing them home faster and rotating them more often if need be.

 to you, your daughter and the military for protecting all of us.
I hope she gets to stay in the states!
Marcy

Thanks for all your prayers and pixie dust....Everyone here on the boards are so great and this means a lot to me.
I'm sure she will be fine and I will just have to re-adjust to not having here again. But I know she will only be a phone call away.. Thanks again everyone....

Denise

My best wishes to your family and your DD.:(
