Sad News Story from Miami

A father threw his two children from the 15th floor of a hotel in Miami and then jumped to his death. The mother who was in the bathroom heard the screaming.

The family was from IL. The mother said they were having marital problems.

So so very sad. My DD can't figure out how a parent could do that to their children.

My heart breaks for the mother.

MIAMI (Reuters) - A man on vacation for his 10th wedding anniversary threw his two young sons from the 15th floor of their hotel in Miami's South Beach on Saturday and then jumped, killing himself and the children, police said.

His wife and mother of the children told police she came out of the bathroom just as her husband, in his 40s, jumped at around 8:30 a.m.

"The mother heard a scream and then ran to the balcony," police spokesman Bobby Hernandez said.

"When she looked over the balcony, she saw her husband and her two children."





The two boys, aged four and eight, were still in their pajamas. The couple from Illinois had apparently not been arguing before the incident and police were still investigating the motive for the husband's actions, Hernandez said.

I don't really think, when a person does this, that they are thinking about the kids at all. I think they do it to have the last "say" toward the surviving spouse. The person who does the killing will not have to live with what they do, but the innocent parent will have to live for the rest of their life with the fact that their kids are dead and the spouse did it. Very sad.
