Sad news RE JAWS

I think im in the minority with this one as im glad Jaws is going, it's such a boring and cheesy ride. As others have said Universal studios needs more big rides to bring in more visiters. Times change and so do the parks.

Maybe I am just getting old but I don't see the Florida theme parks as somewhere for big thrill seeking rides, to me they are a mixture of theme park & museum, maybe because we grew up with films like Jaws, King Kong, Back to the Future etc.
To the younger generation I guess they don't have the same meaning, now Simpsons, HP(although I do love the HP area) are more relevant plus they want bigger, better faster rides.
They have to freshen up and renew, just wish they could leave the classics as well rather than replace them. Maybe it will be something better but we will still miss Jaws.

I think the problem with rides like Jaws, Kong and back to the future is tecnology moves so fast and these rides have just become the victim of that.

It is a shame because these rides are the history of the park and to people like us who have visited for many years they are classics, but to some of the younger people it would just be a 'plastic shark coming up out the water'....where as to me I see the comedy in screaming at a plastic shark!

When I went to Disney in 2009, I walked through the Magic Kingdom and just felt it hadnt moved with the times. They had alot of classics but id seen and done it all before and I suppose they became a victim of keeping things the same, hence why they decided to build the new attractions.

I will miss Jaws though!

oh no we were just talking about this ride with our friends who are planning a trip 2013 they were really excited to hear there was a Jaws ride!

This is the only ride I went on during our last trip!

Im off to universal today so going to have my last ride on jaws :( but Im also excited to find out what is going in its place hope they don't take ages to say what it is....

I personally never thought much of Jaws - you can really only ride it the once because the thrill & suspense is gone, as you know what's going to happen & when it happens. But at the same time i am sad that they're getting rid of it before the likes of Twister or Disaster (which desperately need replacing), as everyone else has said it IS a classic & should stay aslong as possible.

So i'm really hoping they do something amazing with the whole area (Amityville is also being closed down) to justify it's exit.

:)

I don't even like the movies, but I don't think you have to. A man eating shark terrorizing a boat load of people is always fun.

This made me laugh.

I however love the first film, infact it's my fave film of all time (alongside Jurassic Park) I'm gutted they're closing it before we get to go back. I'd rather they did away with Disaster or Twister... even E.T, not my beloved shark :scared1::rotfl:

Poor Jaws. I don't think I'm looking forward to visiting US as much anymore because Jaws was the main reason I ever wanted to go. When I was a kid and I saw the ride advertised on telly it was the one thing I wanted to do but my parents never took us abroad so sadly I never got to ride it until 2010 and I don't think I've had my fill of this ride yet :sad1:
